2/5
The Confession (2025) Paul Lê This movie gets bogged down by its own tropey beginnings and so-so follow-through that the ending, which is admittedly what made The Confession a bit worthwhile, almost doesn't feel deserved.

Killer Whale (2026) Paul Lê Killer Whale's trailer made it obvious what was washing ashore, and quite honestly, it should have stayed out to sea, never to be seen or heard from again.

2.5/5
Death Name (2026) Paul Lê Death Name has visible shortcomings, but in this case, you can hopefully look past that and appreciate the intriguingly unconventional story on full display.

Dolly (2025) Paul Lê Dolly understood the assignment, even if the assignment was, more or less, a regurgitation.

2.5/5
Coyotes (2025) Paul Lê Coyotes isn't a standard 'when animals attack' movie, and perhaps that's for the best.

3.5/5
Primate (2025) Paul Lê From almost start to finish, Primate, much like the rabid [chimp], doesn't ever let up.

They're Watching (2016) Paul Lê The execution of the ending is what seals the deal here. And let me tell you, the outcome is worth the wait.
Posted Sep 12, 2025Edit critic review
Mind Games (1989) Paul Lê While never quite reaching its potential for memorable mayhem, [Mind Games] delivered just enough cheap thrills to keep you watching.

The Severed Arm (1973) Paul Lê It's movies like this that make me love '70s horror.
Posted Aug 23, 2025Edit critic review
The Fields (2011) Paul Lê A sturdy and disquieting psychodrama filled with haunting scenery.

3.5/5
Weapons (2025) Paul Lê The curtain reveal is done in a series of waves, and with each delivery you're likely to become excited and eager for what's to come. That particular feeling helps to gloss over the shortcomings in the underlying narrative.

3.5/5
Fear Below (2025) Paul Lê There are those shark tales where it's clear there was no desire for uniqueness, causing the final product to get lost at sea, so to speak. Thankfully, Fear Below isn't, or rather it shouldn't be, one of those movies.

1.5/5
Snakehead Swamp (2014) Paul Lê Snakehead Swamp is Syfy slop through and through, but it's edible enough at the right time and the right place.

2/5
Snakehead Terror (2004) Paul Lê [An] opportunistic eco-cheapo.

1/5
Fear Street: Prom Queen (2025) Paul Lê Another generic, soulless slasher for the streaming era.
Posted May 23, 2025Edit critic review
2/5
Clown in a Cornfield (2025) Paul Lê At worst, Clown in a Cornfield is a run-of-the-mill slasher movie with a decent plot twist and a handful of satisfying cheap thrills and kills. And for the least demanding fans of this genre, that's more than enough to keep them happy.

1.5/5
Ghost Storm (2012) Paul Lê Can be summed up as an extended and somewhat grislier episode of Haven with generous dashes of The Fog thrown in for flavor. If only it had the charm of said Syfy show or any of the same network's quirky supernatural procedurals airing at the same time.

2/5
Ghost Town (2009) Paul Lê Nothing jumps out as particularly memorable in the long run, however, if you've watched your fair share of Syfy's monster offerings, Ghost Town is a decent break from routine.

On Swift Horses (2024) Paul Lê It would be easy — but also wrong — to say nothing of note happens in On Swift Horses. That sense of nebulousness at the end won't be met with wide approval or great acclaim, but it's hard to imagine this story ending any other way.

2.5/5
Marshmallow (2025) Paul Lê It’s a bit of a trek getting to that huge plot change-up, and while I felt the fatigue and frustration setting in, this movie is a trip still worth taking. Just hang in there and you’ll be rewarded.

Holland (2025) Paul Lê Nicole Kidman is doing what all she can to keep Mimi Cave’s sophomore feature Holland afloat, but she is just one person, struggling to bail water as more pours in through gaping holes.

3/5
Drop (2025) Paul Lê Drop masters the rollercoaster quality of the [thriller] genre.

2/5
Hell of a Summer (2023) Paul Lê If this is a film about nothing, then it succeeds. Excels at, even.
Posted Apr 04, 2025Edit critic review
2.5/5
Death of a Unicorn (2025) Paul Lê Never approaches the charm and audacity you crave from a fuller spectacle, however, for something about killer unicorns impaling the greedy rich, it works in a pinch. Sometimes, fine is fine.

1.5/5
Leprechaun's Revenge (2012) Paul Lê Leprechaun's Revenge is too by-the-numbers and too crudely put together.
Posted Mar 21, 2025Edit critic review
2/5
Roadkill (2011) Paul Lê Far more watchable than others in the Maneater Series.

Ferocious Planet (2011) Paul Lê You're forced to use your imagination because the filmmakers couldn't.

2/5
Star Runners (2009) Paul Lê Production values are about as low as expected, yet at the same time, anyone who grew up watching syndicated and cheesy space shows on the weekends might find more to enjoy here.

Monsterwolf (2010) Paul Lê There is [...] something bewilderingly comforting about [its] mediocrity.

2.5/5
Never Cry Werewolf (2008) Paul Lê A fun, if not imitative and undemanding slice of teen horror.
Posted Feb 24, 2025Edit critic review
2/5
The Bayou (2024) Paul Lê Fans of croc and ‘gator flicks could do a lot worse, admittedly, but the downsides here are hard to overlook.
Posted Feb 21, 2025Edit critic review
3/5
The Monkey (2025) Paul Lê A nonessential yet better-than-expected King adaptation.
Posted Feb 13, 2025Edit critic review
3.5/5
Heart Eyes (2025) Paul Lê It may be tempting to save Heart Eyes for only annual revisits, on account of its story timestamp, but there is also a lot here to make those returns worthwhile.

3/5
Companion (2025) Paul Lê Companion is another  "woman in peril" film but now given a few software updates to make it both topical and a tad less formulaic.
Posted Feb 01, 2025Edit critic review
2.5/5
Claws (2024) Paul Lê At a nice 90-something minutes, the pacing is well done, minus a few odd moments. Melodramatic interruptions paired with saccharine ballads randomly undermine the horrors of one incredibly pissed-off mama bear.

3.5/5
Mockingbird (2014) Paul Lê Bertino's second directorial outing is bleak, thematically inarticulate, and maybe even broaching on needless. Yet for a more concentrated and effective delivery of his feel-bad approach to the genre, nothing quite matches the frenzied Mockingbird.

1/5
Bagman (2024) Paul Lê I wouldn't be at all surprised if this movie wanted to cram itself into a bag and disappear.
Posted Sep 28, 2024Edit critic review
2.5/5
Mr. Crocket (2024) Paul Lê On the narrative front, Mr. Crocket is unremarkable, but it shows potential for the director as a budding creator of pulpy visual horror.

3.5/5
Bone Lake (2024) Paul Lê Bone Lake understands exactly what type of movie it is, and once that self-realization is out of the way, then the real fun begins.

2/5
Apartment 7A (2024) Paul Lê Apartment 7A is an attractive and decently acted prequel, but even the movie seems to know it's unnecessary.

2.5/5
Never Let Go (2024) Paul Lê It's a darker movie than you would have imagined.
Posted Sep 20, 2024Edit critic review
4/5
Cuckoo (2024) Paul Lê Cuckoo is increasingly quirky, yet it takes itself seriously. That's reason enough to give this cinematic oddball a chance and, hopefully, make it a new cult classic down the line.

2/5
The Soul Eater (2024) Paul Lê Will it leave any lasting impression on viewers or the crime genre down the line? It's safe to say that won't be the case.

4.5/5
Oddity (2024) Paul Lê Channeling classic Hammer films as well as classic Tales from the Crypt stories, Oddity is old-fashioned in the best ways imaginable

Beacon (2024) Paul Lê If this story is of little to no appeal, or it ultimately lacks punch, then the two central performances are what keep it afloat.

3/5
Hunters on a White Field (2024) Paul Lê This intimate and gorgeous study of unchecked and wild male ego could have supplied more food for thought, but what it does say — typically through imagery rather than words — is, nevertheless, compelling.

2/5
Livescreamers (2023) Paul Lê Had Livescreamers picked just one of its several social issues and focused on that in a way that felt profound rather than cursory, then maybe it would have been more rewarding.

3.5/5
The Coffee Table (2022) Paul Lê The unpleasantness of everything here doesn't quite make audiences want to come back for seconds anytime soon. This is definitely a film that needs more time to settle once it's been devoured.

3.5/5
The Greatest Hits (2024) Paul Lê An impressive playlist of catharsis, passion and self-realization.
Posted Apr 18, 2024Edit critic review
2/5
The Seeding (2023) Paul Lê Ultimately, there's just not enough here to praise, on either an emotional or narrative level, but like some deserts, the film is nice to look at. It's just a place no one would be advised to go, much less stay.
