It Was Just an Accident (2025) Roxana Hadadi It is absolutely a political thriller. It is absolutely a character study. It is also hilarious.

It Was Just an Accident (2025) Aisha Harris I think it's both a great political film, but it's also a very great character study. And I cannot recommend this movie enough.

It Was Just an Accident (2025) Glen Weldon This film does a good old-fashioned favor to cinema, a huge service to cinema. Because it digs into something that's been treated so glibly by filmmakers forever, which is the question of vengeance.

The Rip (2026) Roxana Hadadi I just did not feel invested in these characters in a way that made the twists and turns of the plot that interesting. But I will say that I think visually, it does some things that are really spectacular.

The Rip (2026) Stephen Thompson It is not a wildly unpredictable movie. But to me, I felt like this was the sort of basic cable, mid-grade, two to three-star, fun Saturday afternoon, bucket of popcorn kind of movie.
Posted Jan 21, 2026Edit critic review
The Rip (2026) Jordan Crucchiola I was fully wrapped up in the suspense of this. I was having a blast with the cast. And I was having a blast with the gunfights. This is blue collar entertainment as our characters are portrayed on screen.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026) Stephen Thompson If you can stomach the torture porn and you have seen 28 Years Later from last year, I recommend this film for the payoff that exists late in this film, which I am not going to spoil, which I found enormously enjoyable, extremely funny.

People We Meet on Vacation (2026) Linda Holmes If you put this on, on a weekend afternoon, you will be fine. It is pleasant to watch. But the things that made the book special, I think, are almost impossible to preserve in a two-hour movie.

No Other Choice (2025) Glen Weldon It's a wonderfully nasty piece of work.
Posted Jan 08, 2026Edit critic review
No Other Choice (2025) Aisha Harris It's got characters that you believe are real and feel real. And that elevates it for me and makes it definitely the type of movie that I want to rewatch again and again.

Anaconda (2025) Joelle Monique The chemistry between Rudd and Black is so fun. They are twinkling.
Posted Dec 30, 2025Edit critic review
Anaconda (2025) Jordan Crucchiola If you bear the same concerns that I do about Anaconda, I think this is a best-case scenario of this kind of Anaconda. And I would encourage you to see it in a theater with friends.
Posted Dec 30, 2025Edit critic review
Anaconda (2025) Stephen Thompson If you liked [the original Anaconda], you should definitely see this. They're both approaching, kind of, popcorn film history with deep, deep love and kind of meta appreciation.

Marty Supreme (2025) Linda Holmes [Timothée Chalamet] is mesmerizing to watch in this, which is an accomplishment because I'm not sure I care that much about this story.
Posted Dec 30, 2025Edit critic review
The Housemaid (2025) Jordan Crucchiola What a thrill, a perfect thrill.
Posted Dec 24, 2025Edit critic review
The Housemaid (2025) Roxana Hadadi What the movie does so well is, it takes all these, like, very recognizable, like, tropey elements of this genre at this point and, like, winks at you the whole time.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025) Aisha Harris It's like a Final Destination movie. It's like all the ways that you can die and all the ways that this person was murdered, that's the fun.
Posted Dec 15, 2025Edit critic review
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025) Linda Holmes [The film has] an incredibly rich and satisfying story, just full of kindness and compassion for the characters, and not for nothing, the very rare, really good American mainstream movie about faith, which you just don't find that many of.

Jay Kelly (2025) Linda Holmes We've seen Adam Sandler be a really good actor. But I think this is maybe my favorite dramatic performance of his in the sense that it is so vulnerable.
Posted Dec 15, 2025Edit critic review
Jay Kelly (2025) Aisha Harris There's just something very interesting about someone like George Clooney doing this sort of meta version of himself. And I think it works, in part, because George Clooney is just so charismatic.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (2025) Reanna Cruz Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is held together by cardboard, twine, and fan service.
Posted Dec 15, 2025Edit critic review
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (2025) Stephen Thompson There is almost no story here.
Posted Dec 15, 2025Edit critic review
Hamnet (2025) Stephen Thompson I'm not necessarily a deep Shakespeare guy... I still found myself moved by the parallels between the story and the work, and was sort of fascinated by the way this film is...
Posted Dec 15, 2025Edit critic review
Hamnet (2025) Aisha Harris I left this feeling cold. I left this feeling unmoved
Posted Dec 15, 2025Edit critic review
Zootopia 2 (2025) Linda Holmes Although I appreciated where I think it's coming from on some of these issues... I did appreciate this movie mostly as fun and as visually witty, which is one of the things that I really miss in a lot of animation now.
Posted Dec 15, 2025Edit critic review
Sentimental Value (2025) Stephen Thompson This is basically, across the board, a wonderfully-acted film.
Posted Dec 11, 2025Edit critic review
Sentimental Value (2025) Aisha Harris Even though this is a very emotional movie and there's so much attention to detail, [within] the last few minutes, I did feel a little bit let down by how kind of tidy it all felt. Not perfect, but just tidy.

Wicked: For Good (2025) Linda Holmes That scene between Elphaba and Glinda at the end of this film is worth the whole thing.
Posted Dec 04, 2025Edit critic review
Wicked: For Good (2025) Tre'vell Anderson One thing you can do, or a lot of things that you can do in film with this narrative, you can't do on stage. And this is a movie musical lover's movie.
Posted Dec 04, 2025Edit critic review
Now You See Me: Now You Don't (2025) Stephen Thompson This is a film that understands [that] this stuff is a little silly. These people are a little cheesy. This is kind of goofy. But, ultimately, it's just kind of serving up delights.
Posted Nov 18, 2025Edit critic review
Now You See Me: Now You Don't (2025) Kristen Meinzer I liked the twist [at the end of the film]. I liked our central characters. It's not that I hated this movie. There were a lot of things I liked about it. It was just so sloppy and overstuffed.

The Running Man (2025) Reanna Cruz They make some good points, but I think they just stop short of fully realizing the ideas that they set out to establish.
Posted Nov 16, 2025Edit critic review
The Running Man (2025) Ronald Young Jr. It's a fine movie for just going in and watching a movie.
Posted Nov 16, 2025Edit critic review
Predator: Badlands (2025) Glen Weldon You're going to have a good time. Action set pieces, on point, humor that is based in behavior and attitude, not quips, not pop culture references.
Posted Nov 10, 2025Edit critic review
Predator: Badlands (2025) Chris Klimek I think the script is really good. I think Elle Fanning is wonderful. I just don't like the way this movie looks.
Posted Nov 10, 2025Edit critic review
Predator: Badlands (2025) Ronald Young Jr. Watching this [film] and seeing everything that they're establishing, I think is fine for this movie, but it was not something I was craving outside of this movie.

Frankenstein (2025) Linda Holmes As much as I appreciate it thematically, I think what really blew me away about it is that this is a really, really beautiful movie, even though it's a very gruesome movie, in many respects.
Posted Nov 10, 2025Edit critic review
Frankenstein (2025) Aisha Harris It made me sad. It made me think about my own life and ponder my own existence. And I don't know if you can ask much more from this story.
Posted Nov 10, 2025Edit critic review
Hedda (2025) Soraya Nadia McDonald I love seeing Nia and Tessa work together. Nia really seems to have an eye and an ear for places that Tessa can stretch.
Posted Nov 05, 2025Edit critic review
Hedda (2025) Aisha Harris The costume design, production design, the score-- everyone was just working together symbiotically. And I love it here.
Posted Nov 05, 2025Edit critic review
Bugonia (2025) Aisha Harris What wins this over for me is the performances. Emma Stone is fantastic. Jesse Plemons is freakin'' terrifying and so good. He's just so convincing as that guy.
Posted Nov 04, 2025Edit critic review
Bugonia (2025) Stephen Thompson If bleak isn't your bag, I'd sit this one out. But I'm glad that we have filmmakers who are clearly given a fair bit of free reign to follow their extremely idiosyncratic vision. I'm glad that Lanthimos is able to be as prolific as he is.

If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (2025) Aisha Harris Rose Byrne has spun comedic gold for years, from Bridesmaids to Neighbors to Platonic. But in the new movie If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, she shows her dramatic chops, and she's fantastic.

Blue Moon (2025) Glen Weldon This movie got me on the Ethan Hawke's character's side from the jump because every bit of shade he throws toward Oklahoma! is absolutely right.
Posted Nov 04, 2025Edit critic review
Blue Moon (2025) Aisha Harris Overall, I loved this. I'm always a sucker for Ethan Hawke, but this is one of his really, really, really fine performances, and I was very happy to see this.
Posted Nov 04, 2025Edit critic review
Blue Moon (2025) Linda Holmes The way that this movie just hinges on the creative, like, what happens when a creative partnership is dead, and just that alone,...it makes this such a great execution of the, quote unquote, "biopic genre.".
Posted Nov 04, 2025Edit critic review
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere (2025) Stephen Thompson What you wind up getting in this film is a love letter to male friendship, a love letter to extremely effective management and a love letter to having a great team of people around you.
Posted Nov 04, 2025Edit critic review
Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere (2025) Linda Holmes This Jeremy Allen White performance is extraordinary. And I think he's riveting, which is one of the reasons why I was never bored in this film.
Posted Nov 04, 2025Edit critic review
Good Fortune (2025) Aisha Harris There's a lot of fun jokes. And I think it twists the knife a little bit more than I was expecting it to in terms of how it deals with inequality.
Posted Oct 28, 2025Edit critic review
Black Phone 2 (2025) Glen Weldon This is otherwise a often quite gory horror film that, in those moments, gets kind of kicked for me into Goosebumps, Are You Afraid of the Dark territory.
