Supergirl (1984) Chris Stuckmann This film has no narrative.
Posted Jun 26, 2025Edit critic review
Final Destination (2000) Chris Stuckmann You can just tell that James Wong and Glen Morgan and Jeffrey Reddick really cared about horror.
Posted May 22, 2025Edit critic review
Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (1984) Chris Stuckmann This movie's a giant bore.
Posted Apr 28, 2025Edit critic review
Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (1985) Chris Stuckmann I never knew I wanted a sword fight sequence with Wilford Brimley, but I'm glad that I got it.

Dune (2021) Chris Stuckmann I really loved Dune. The action set pieces were phenomenal, but the focus was almost always on the characters.

Till Death (2021) Chris Stuckmann The characters were more complex than your average thriller of this type, the action and suspense sequences were very well handled. Despite some logical inconsistencies, I think Till Death is pretty damn good.

C
Black Widow (2021) Chris Stuckmann This film could have been great. It could have been so much better than it is, but they just kind of made a contractual movie that feels like a placeholder for other things in the future.

C-
The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021) Chris Stuckmann I never once was bothered by the movie, but I couldn't help but notice: it's kind of bad. It's just kind of a bad movie.

F9 The Fast Saga (2021) Chris Stuckmann This one kind of lost me, guys. I feel like they truly jumped the shark here -- or jumped the orbit.
Posted Jun 24, 2021Edit critic review
B
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One (2021) Chris Stuckmann Immediately, one of my biggest issues with a lot of the DC animated films was solved within the first few frames, because you can tell they put a lot of work into this animation.

C
Luca (2021) Chris Stuckmann I'm not seeing this leaving a lasting impact like most of Pixar's movies.
Posted Jun 17, 2021Edit critic review
B
Censor (2021) Chris Stuckmann Achieves a very difficult balancing act of showing a character who makes choices that aren't really good choices, but because you can understand the state of her mind... You go with it.

B
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) Chris Stuckmann Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are excellent in these roles, and -- just like a good TV show -- I will watch these characters do things, even when some episodes aren't as good as the others.

Cruella (2021) Chris Stuckmann This movie surprised me... It's a gorgeous-looking movie.
Posted May 28, 2021Edit critic review
A
A Quiet Place Part II (2021) Chris Stuckmann One of the better horror sequels I've ever seen... Exactly the kind of movie I wanted it to be.
Posted May 21, 2021Edit critic review
B
Army Of The Dead (2021) Chris Stuckmann This movie was an absolute blast. I had such a good time with this movie.
Posted May 17, 2021Edit critic review

Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021) Chris Stuckmann It's just not well made and, unfortunately, the tone is an issue.
Posted May 12, 2021Edit critic review
A-
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train (2020) Chris Stuckmann Having seen the show is going to improve your experience significantly... If you love the show, you're going to love this movie.

Mortal Kombat (2021) Chris Stuckmann Most Mortal Kombat fans -- especially hardcore Mortal Kombat fans -- will find enjoyment in this movie. I certainly laughed a lot and had fun while people were brutally killed.

B-
Jakob's Wife (2021) Chris Stuckmann There was actually a surprising amount of substance and depth to the characters, although the tonal shifts didn't always work.
Posted Apr 19, 2021Edit critic review
B+
The Vigil (2019) Chris Stuckmann This is a really damn good horror film made on a tight budget with almost one location only, and it never drags. They find really exciting ways to use this location to their advantage.
Posted Mar 30, 2021Edit critic review
B
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) Chris Stuckmann It doesn't have a grand aspiration towards really anything else than entertaining the hell out of you with a series of epic bouts between Godzilla and Kong. They do not disappoint.

B-
Nobody (2021) Chris Stuckmann In many ways, this feels like a "copy and paste" variant of a John Wick first draft... [But Bob Odenkirk] crushes it. He is so phenomenal in this movie.
Posted Mar 25, 2021Edit critic review
The Empty Man (2020) Chris Stuckmann Remarkably ambitious and challenging. The Empty Man defies categorization. An exceptional directorial debut.
Posted Mar 21, 2021Edit critic review
C+
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run (2020) Chris Stuckmann Unfortunately, the film didn't feel like it really had a story. It felt like a series of sketches, and most of them weren't very funny.

B+
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) Chris Stuckmann This film is infinitely better. Zack Snyder's Justice League is a deeper, richer version.
Posted Mar 20, 2021Edit critic review

Chaos Walking (2021) Chris Stuckmann The concept of this movie is interesting -- it's just that they threw a bunch of boring people into the concept.
Posted Mar 03, 2021Edit critic review
A-
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) Chris Stuckmann Exhilarating from an action perspective... I found myself moved a lot over the course of this story.
Posted Mar 03, 2021Edit critic review
F
Tom & Jerry (2021) Chris Stuckmann I would love if movies like this respected children -- if they seemed to even remotely care about children and not pander to them or treat them like idiots.
Posted Feb 27, 2021Edit critic review
C-
Cherry (2021) Chris Stuckmann [Directors Anthony and Joe Russo] adopted a style in Cherry that is so flashy, so in-your-face, and so self-indulgent that the story didn't really come to life.
Posted Feb 25, 2021Edit critic review
A
Hoosiers (1986) Chris Stuckmann This film has so much heart. Every time I watch it, I am on the verge of tears for almost the entire runtime.
Posted Feb 17, 2021Edit critic review
C-
Earwig and the Witch (2020) Chris Stuckmann There's very little stakes and there's very little character goals, so it's hard to get invested in the story or the characters.
Posted Feb 11, 2021Edit critic review
B-
Wide Awake (1998) Chris Stuckmann [M. Night Shyamalan] clearly hadn't quite figured out exactly what he wanted to say or do, but as a film, it does feel like a director who is really trying to make something that feels different from other family entertainment that explores spirituality.

A
Akira (1988) Chris Stuckmann The opening motorbike chase is still thrilling, but the dedication to the backgrounds as well as crowds of people filling the screen, explosions happening in the distance, and a jaw-dropping sense of scope make Akira the classic that it is.

(undefined) Chris Stuckmann The insanity of the movie, and just the fact that it actually exists, entertains me to no end.
Posted Jan 20, 2021Edit critic review
A
Tokyo Godfathers (2003) Chris Stuckmann Tokyo Godfathers stands as an excellent anime film and a really fun Christmas movie.
Posted Dec 28, 2020Edit critic review
C-
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020) Chris Stuckmann It just feels so over the top, hammy, and unearned. It doesn't feel lovingly hammy, it feels accidentally cheesy.
Posted Dec 28, 2020Edit critic review
B+
Jingle All the Way (1996) Chris Stuckmann That rare family-themed Christmas movie that isn't really aimed at kids. It's actually aimed at adults... It's a family Christmas movie that's completely honest about what family Christmases tend to be like!
Posted Dec 21, 2020Edit critic review
B-
Greenland (2020) Chris Stuckmann Is it great? No. It's got a lot of structural issues in the last half... But I liked that the movie did not rely on CGI and actually focuses on the family for the most part, which heightened the tension for me.

Monster Hunter (2020) Chris Stuckmann I really wanted to turn my brain off. I certainly did with Monster Hunter, and that really didn't make the movie all that much better.
Posted Dec 17, 2020Edit critic review
B+
Promising Young Woman (2020) Chris Stuckmann Carey Mulligan easily gives one of her very best performances -- if not maybe my favorite performance I've seen from her -- in this film.
Posted Dec 10, 2020Edit critic review
B
Mank (2020) Chris Stuckmann I loved looking at it, hearing it, and the actors in it -- particularly Charles Dance... It feels like something I can study -- it just doesn't feel like something I can enjoy watching again.

C-
Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula (2020) Chris Stuckmann I feel like [director Yeon Sang-ho] misunderstood what he had the first time around. It seemed like he was just trying to make a "Hollywood" movie [for the sequel], and that's really not what made the first film so great.

B+
Happiest Season (2020) Chris Stuckmann If you have the right talent assembled in your movie (and that comes down to casting), it's going to work, and this movie is cast wonderfully.

Run (2020) Chris Stuckmann Probably my favorite thriller that I've seen in recent memory.

B-
Freaky (2020) Chris Stuckmann Pretty entertaining, and mostly because of Vince Vaughn.

Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) Chris Stuckmann This was the beginning of the end for the Halloween franchise.
Posted Nov 02, 2020Edit critic review
D
The Craft: Legacy (2020) Chris Stuckmann A lot of this film just doesn't work, and a lot of that has to do with the characterizations... There is virtually no attempt to give character to the three [other] girls.
Posted Oct 29, 2020Edit critic review
Butterfly Kisses (2018) Chris Stuckmann It's a fascinating look at how a filmmaker can become so obsessed with something, it destroys his life.
Posted Oct 28, 2020Edit critic review
Hellbound (1993) Chris Stuckmann Hellbound is so bad, but man it's entertaining!
