Is This Thing On? (2025) Rendy Jones A heartfelt and sincere romantic comedy that explores the themes of aging and the hobbies that help us find our better halves again, all of which is fueled by the exceptional screen chemistry between Will Arnett and Laura Dern.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants (2025) Rendy Jones A laugh-out-loud, greatest-hits riot that sees original SpongeBob veteran artists going unhinged in every direction. As a result, they spiritually capture the nautical nonsense magic many Sponge-fans, young and old, can enjoy.

No Other Choice (2025) Rendy Jones It’s cheeky, it’s twisted, and one of the best films of 2025. Though it doesn’t reach his frequent S-tier heights, to me it's A-tier. And A-tier director Park is a higher seal of quality than most of this year's outputs.

Sirāt (2025) Rendy Jones It's like going to a rave and experiencing it through a maximalist, shroomed-up lens.

Marty Supreme (2025) Rendy Jones A raw, screwball, chaotic toast to the insatiable individualistic working-class desire to fulfill an ultimate destiny. An absolute friggin' SCHWEP.

Rental Family (2025) Rendy Jones Rental Family is a tender and affectionate drama elevated by Brendan Fraser's star presence and delves into the theme of human connectivity, despite its basic lighthearted demeanor.

Zootopia 2 (2025) Rendy Jones Delivers on everything you loved about the first but with a stronger sense of self, while operating as an excitable family-fun adventure with heart.

Wicked: For Good (2025) Rendy Jones Whatever magic that flying broom had to propel itself into the air in 'Part One' hits only severe turbulence throughout 'For Good' before crashing onto a yellow-brick tarmac.

Die My Love (2025) Rendy Jones Lynne Ramsay's direction, with Jennifer Lawrence's bone-rattling performance, renders Die My Love a raw and unflinching portrait of postpartum psychosis in a single primal depiction.

Now You See Me: Now You Don't (2025) Rendy Jones These Robin Hood-like illusionist superheroes provide the magic we didn't realize we needed or deserved. Wishing for a better time in blockbuster theatrical filmmaking and a better world that may be silly, but was once magical.

Song Sung Blue (2025) Rendy Jones Despite Hudson's commendable work, this musical biodrama about a couple with a dream and some Sweet Carolines to sing is a never-ending disaster.

3.5/5
Predator: Badlands (2025) Rendy Jones A decent Predator installment that pushes the series in a sharp direction. I think it's safe to say that Dan Trachtenberg has become the Predator franchise's den daddy. Rightfully so.

Bugonia (2025) Rendy Jones A razor-sharp satire of humanity's decline driven by exceptional performances from Lanthi-alums Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.

4.5/5
Hedda (2025) Rendy Jones DaCosta's multilayered reinvention of Hedda is a razor-sharp cerebral character analysis powered by bisexual chaos and a monumental Tessa Thompson performance that I cannot envision in any (heter)other way.

Frankenstein (2025) Rendy Jones GDT’s Frankenstein gracefully honors Shelley’s work by beautifully illustrating the queer pursuit of existing in the world and seeking love and acceptance for their full selves.

Arco (2025) Rendy Jones A sincere and sweet fable that captures the wonders and complexity of childhood, beaming with visually stunning artwork and an earnest Miyazaki-influenced tone.

Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc (2025) Rendy Jones An enjoyable cinematic experience for the diehards and maybe first-time viewers. It's an intuitive coming-of-age romance arc for the titular protagonist while being an explosive and electrifying action roller-coaster ride to watch on the big screen.

Father Mother Sister Brother (2025) Rendy Jones Although its heart is in the right place, Jim Jarmusch's Father Mother Sister Brother falls short of giving a complete picture of the familial bonds that are on display and only scratches the surface of unrealized potential.

It Was Just an Accident (2025) Rendy Jones One of the boldest, most essential pieces of cinema you'll need to see this year.

Left-Handed Girl (2025) Rendy Jones Shih-Ching Tsou's Left-Handed Girl is a stylish, briskly paced, and entertaining portrait of generational social status and class divides in a familial unit that is specific to Taipei but universal to many cultures.

Scarlet (2025) Rendy Jones Like Belle, Hosoda's ambitions exceed his grasp, but darn it, he cultivates a striking animated spectacle nonetheless.

Roofman (2025) Rendy Jones Roofman is a passable crime drama that features excellent performances by Tatum and Dunst, providing a comprehensive humanistic portrayal with more heart than compelling characters.

A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE (2025) Rendy Jones While a technical marvel, A House of Dynamite is at the service of a hokey hypothetical that intends to detonate your suspense and winds up imploding on itself.

Late Fame (2026) Rendy Jones Late Fame operates well in the routine it establishes for itself and consistently keeps you engaged with its familiar yet earnest rhythm. And you know what? That's worth a snap or two.

The Smashing Machine (2025) Rendy Jones Benny Safdie's technical mastery and filmmaking craft are undeniable, but despite a solid performance from Dwayne Johnson, the film delivers a dull, one-note character portrait, resulting in a light jab of a biodrama.

One Battle After Another (2025) Rendy Jones In the face of the authoritarianism, cruelty, and terror defining our bleak Trump 2.0 era, this is the kind of hopeful film America desperately needs — a must-see for anyone living in this country.

HIM (2025) Rendy Jones A Peele-wannabe flick with little on its mind and nothing in its soul. Truly fumbles the ball at every play.

Mile End Kicks (2025) Rendy Jones Featuring another rockin' Barbie Ferreira leading performance, Mile End Kicks is a funny coming-of-age comedy that solidifies Chandler Levack as one of Canada's most talented voices of today.

Tuner (2025) Rendy Jones Think Caught Stealing, but more like Michael Mann’s Thief. That’s Tuner: a completely tropey, if not forgettable, crime caper that’s as conventional as they come, but thoroughly entertaining nonetheless.

Little Amélie or the Character of Rain (2025) Rendy Jones This beautifully animated portrait of a childhood, full of imagination and sophistication, brought me more joy than any god could.

Christy (2025) Rendy Jones Sweeney, Foster, and Wever all do great work in Christy, but its lengthy and bland storytelling fails to give the source figure the powerful punch her story deserves.

Preparation for the Next Life (2025) Rendy Jones An impressive narrative turn for director Bing Liu that takes a somber look at how the US mistreats its inhabitants.

Highest 2 Lowest (2025) Rendy Jones Spike's thrilling cinematic experience is unparalleled by any other NYC-set film released this year, and an Apple TV+ subscription doesn't do this justice.

Freakier Friday (2025) Rendy Jones The formula-driven Freakier Friday ignores its main characters, but it captures the original's charm in a lighthearted way, from its edge to Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan's timeless dynamic.

Weapons (2025) Rendy Jones Further proof that the former comedian from The Whitest Kids U Know is indeed one of the most twisted, original minds out there.

Fixed (2025) Rendy Jones For a project that's been in the works longer than your average dog’s lifespan (17 years), I'll say, Genndy Tartakovsky surely made the funniest R-rated comedy of 2008 (complimentary)!

The Bad Guys 2 (2025) Rendy Jones Think of a car running on a Soderbergh engine. Then halfway through, The Bad Guys 2 replaces it with a McQuarrie engine. Astonishingly, it hits the same aura of tenseness as his Mission Impossible entries, if not straight up surpassing them.

The Naked Gun (2025) Rendy Jones I crawled out of the theater with a fractured ribcage because of how much I guffawed throughout. It's so dumb, it's brilliant!
