The Fantastic Four: First Steps
(2025)
Joe Passmore
Everything plays out just as you’d expect, particularly within the final act. But after some risks that didn’t pay off with fans and a wobbly few years at the box office, maybe “safe” is exactly Marvel Studios needs right now.

The Marvels
(2023)
Joe Passmore
Being a huge fan of the source material, Nia DaCosta leans into the wacky. There’s tonnes of unique and exciting camera work, cinematography and worldbuilding. The incredibly choreographed action feels like part of the script, rather than an afterthought.

Ultimately, Barbie is so many things: a stereotype, a toy, an idea; a vessel of imagination; a cultural relic. But in Gerwig’s trusted hands, this is Barbie like you’ve never seen her before.
