2/5
Dolly (2025) Shannon McGrew While it clearly aims for shock and awe, it needed more substance to deliver a lasting impact. That said, there’s potential here. Dolly has the makings of a great horror icon, and I’d be curious to see where Blackhurst takes the character from here.

Good Boy (2025) Shannon McGrew GOOD BOY refuses to play it safe, delivering one of the year's most memorable and anxiety-inducing horror films.

Dangerous Animals (2025) Shannon McGrew Featuring a career-best performance from Jai Courtney, impressively choreographed fights, nail-biting tension, and, of course, sharks, this is easily one of the best summer thrillers you’ll see this year.

Death of a Unicorn (2025) Shannon McGrew What is the best way to describe DEATH OF A UNICORN? Imagine Jurassic Park colliding with the unicorn from Cabin in the Woods. You’ll laugh, jump out of your seat, and maybe even shed a tear.

The Monkey (2025) Shannon McGrew While Perkins succeeds in crafting striking, blood-soaked visuals, he stumbles in weaving together a story that surpasses its superficial exterior.

9.5/10
The Ugly Stepsister (2025) Sarah Musnicky It is painful and tear-jerking and another reminder of how societal beauty standards and our quest to achieve them cause more harm than good. As Blichfeldt has said, we are all stepsisters, and through Elvira's journey, we have been warned.

2.5/5
Companion (2025) Shannon McGrew The film’s light and playful tone quickly gives way to grim, unsettling violence, particularly towards Iris. It’s a stark reminder that whether you’re human or artificial, women will always be subjected to physical/sexual violence at the hands of men.

Wolf Man (2025) Shannon McGrew Even with its missteps, I give Leigh Whannell credit for swinging for the fences - and for including a SAW reference in the film, even if the story lacked meat on the bones.

Devils Stay (2024) Sarah Musnicky DEVILS STAY is an underwhelming, bloated affair. Despite its more intriguing components, too many elements distract within its story.

Hold Your Breath (2024) Sarah Musnicky As an examination of tragic madness, HOLD YOUR BREATH almost gets it. But it gets lost in the dust it hopes to use for scares.

5/10
Apartment 7A (2024) Sarah Musnicky The theatricality alone gives APARTMENT 7A a different look and feel that separates it from its predecessor, but it's arguably not enough. Rosemary's Baby's beating heart echoes throughout, with the story doing little to go beyond the confines of ritual.

6.5/10
Never Let Go (2024) Sarah Musnicky Capturing the atmosphere and ambiguity of a Southern gothic fairytale, this film is rooted in place by the strength of its performances. Through the relationships captured onscreen, some storytelling sins are forgiven.

4/5
The Substance (2024) Sarah Musnicky THE SUBSTANCE never shies away from its non-subtle, expressive view of how we process aging. It is brutally honest in its rage, internalized and externalized, but also in Sparkles' self-discovery, there's something akin to hope.

Speak No Evil (2024) Shannon McGrew Hardcore fans of the original will find much to appreciate in this version, as Watkins successfully puts his own spin on the story and brings together a talented cast who honor the original while delivering something fresh.

The Front Room (2024) Shannon McGrew THE FRONT ROOM is an audacious debut from the Eggers Brothers. While it struggles to find a steady footing and doesn’t hit every note it aims for, credit must be given where it’s due - they really swing for the fences.

Dancing Village: The Curse Begins (2024) Sarah Musnicky While it takes arguably too long for the action to kick into gear, DANCING VILLAGE: THE CURSE BEGINS is a fitting prequel for those unfamiliar with the world of this Indonesian horror.

Love Lies Bleeding (2024) Dolores Quintana The strength of the film lies in the emotional resonance and vulnerability between the two leads that you almost feel ashamed to be watching how deep and raw it really is.

Dark Obsession (2023) Sarah Musnicky In DARK OBSESSION (2023), the potential under the surface is seldom explored. By the time a twist is let loose, the film’s plodding pace leaves its thrills too late.
