Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F (2024) Lynn Venhaus "The story is not all that original, but it's fun to watch Eddie Murphy again as Axel Foley."

Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot (2024) Lynn Venhaus "It just grabs your heart 10 minutes in, and doesn't let go...uplifting and heartwarming, it's about people trying their best to do the right thing."

A
Run Lola Run (1998) Lynn Venhaus This is a humdinger...full of kinetic energy, it's unlike anything you've ever seen.

B
The Great Lillian Hall (2024) Lynn Venhaus Jessica Lange doing her best work and leaps to frontrunner status for the TV movie Emmy. What happens when you can't do the thing you loved the most anymore? It's powerful and poignant.

C+
Young Woman and the Sea (2024) Lynn Venhaus Earnest, wholesome, feel-good. It's a perfect fit for Daisy Ridley, who embodies 'do not tell me what to do"...showing how far women have come.

Summer Camp (2024) Lynn Venhaus Normally, the trio of Diane Keaton, Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard would be golden, but they are not, saddled with an awful script and playing awful characters...nothing to really hold on to and engage.

A
Jim Henson Idea Man (2024) Lynn Venhaus Fascinating portrait of a creative, inventive and wonderful artist, and his family is candid about his restless spirit...He grew up humbly in Mississippi, took his mother's coat and cut a ping pong ball in half to create Kermit the Frog.

B-
Ezra (2023) Lynn Venhaus Heart-tugging, they all learn life lessons.

Wicked Little Letters (2023) Lynn Venhaus "It's not a great mystery -- you can pretty much figure it from the start, but it is fun to watch those two actresses."

B-
Candy Cane Lane (2023) Lynn Venhaus Eddie Murphy and director Reginald Hudlin have worked together before, in "Boomerang." Hudlin grew up in East St Louis and recently received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Cinema St. Louis. It is fun to watch and has a little edge to it.

B
Dream Scenario (2023) Lynn Venhaus Nicolas Cage is having a renaissance, and he is great here...it has much to say about social media, cancel culture and viral sensations. Two-thirds of the movie is sharp, although I don't think it sticks the landing at the end.

A
The Boy and the Heron (2023) Lynn Venhaus This is a beautiful film, poetic and lyrical, with next-level animation. A meditation on life and death and art...

D+
Poor Things (2023) Lynn Venhaus Yorgos Lanthimos makes peculiar films...Emma Stone's character acts like a toddler and she is unfiltered like a toddler, that's where the humor comes from, but she discovers sex, and it's from a male point of view. It is icky if you think about it.

C
The Oath (2023) Lynn Venhaus It feels like a biblical epic. I know there is an audience for this because it is an old-fashioned action-adventure. It is low budget, so there is not a whole lot of CGI. It is a story of survival.

D
Napoleon (2023) Lynn Venhaus This is such a misfire. It is 2 hours and 38 minutes of my life I would like back. At the end of the movie, I knew nothing more about Napoleon than I did when it started.

C-
Saltburn (2023) Lynn Venhaus This movie is for shock value. It is depraved, distasteful, disturbing. I don't know who is going to sit through this until the end. I am having little tolerance for movies that are weird just for weird sake.

C
Bullet Train (2022) Lynn Venhaus If you start thinking about the logic, then it goes off the rails. Leave your brain at the door.

B+
The Lost City (2022) Lynn Venhaus Brad Pitt is in it for a brief amount of time and practically steals the movie.... I laughed out loud. Have fun. Why not? It's been a very long, dreary winter and this is a breath of fresh air.

D
Blacklight (2022) Lynn Venhaus Just a ridiculous movie.

C
Midnight in the Switchgrass (2021) Lynn Venhaus Despite [Emile] Hirsch's interesting portrayal, not much distinguishes this from a "Dateline" episode.

C+
Lamb (2021) Lynn Venhaus A peculiar, yet cannily crafted, tale about messing with nature, Lambis resolute in the bizarre world it portrays.
