Probably would’ve been a better miniseries than trying to squish it all into under two hours. See more Mr S Aug 26 One of my favourites. Brilliant acting, absolutely beautiful cinematography and score. Incredibly well written dialogue. And the mystery is always engaging. The smart conclusion in the end is brilliant, a whole lot of fun, with deep philosophical implications. If you're a regular movie enjoyer, this is a good one to put on. If you're a stuck up, pretentious snob, maybe don't watch this one. Based on other peoples reviews. Sheesh! I suppose a math-related film attracts a certain type of audience! The irony is palpable. A must watch! I've seen it once every few years, keeps calling to me and never disappoints. I wish we got more from this ensemble. See more Eric B Jul 12 THOROUGHLY under-rated! Ironically, a lot of snobbish reviewers reviewing what many have labeled a pretentious film. They’re absolutely wrong. The performances alone are worth the watch. Bold. Risk taking. Sensitive and mysterious. The kind of stuff the very BEST acting teachers encourage! And all the stuff of not following the narrative cuz it’s confusing? Nonsense! And to prove it, watch a SECOND time and it becomes clearer. The actors, the plot, the direction are terrific. They camera work is excellent! More and more, it seems filmmakers are being asked to dumb it down. Too many acquiesce. These filmmakers said, “No!”, and just went about having fun! So did I, watching this fim. See more Dennis O Jun 12 I found the movie mildly entertaining, but it was not Elijah Wood's best performance. Sometimes he seemed to be phoning it in. He didn't give a good reading of many of the lines. This was in clear contrast to the solid English cast, especially the great John Hurt. The movie did give an interesting overview of Oxford, for those of us who have never been there. Of course like many murder mysteries, some of the plot elements are contrived.
