Gardner Barnes (Kevin Costner) is a young Texan who has just graduated from college and is unsure of what to do next. Along with his friends, collectively known as the Groovers, Gardner embarks on a road trip to the Rio Grande as a last hurrah for the group. As the trip progresses, Gardner and his buddies, including Kenneth Waggener (Sam Robards) and Phil Hicks (Judd Nelson), struggle with their impending adulthood and the looming issue of the Vietnam War.

It's also poignant and touching at times. The humor is sometimes a bit off the wall, but most of it is believable, if zany, due to the excellent acting of the cast. It's about a road trip five friends take to dig up Dom. Some of the funniest stuff in any movie I can think of off hand. Costner and Nelson deliver great performances. The soundtrack is excellent, especially the Pat Metheny track, expertly woven into the scene near the end of the movie, that makes the entire scene special. One of my very favorite comedies movies! Set to a gorgeous soundtrack featuring lovely music from Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays among various pop tunes of the seventies, the movie delivers multiple excellent scenes that continuously deliver satisfaction from the viewer.
