Hoping for a fresh start with her broke boyfriend, Marion (Anne Heche) steals a huge sum from her boss and skips town, eventually stopping at a remote motel. There, she's served by the intensely awkward yet docile Norman Bates (Vince Vaughn), whom she often hears arguing with his domineering mother. But later that night, Marion is brutally slain, and Norman finds and hides the body. When a detective and Marion's sister visit the motel to investigate, they uncover shocking truths.

Hitchcock probably wouldn't tell this story if he was making films today, and he certainly wouldn't tell it this way, with internal 'voices', back projection, minimal nudity and violence.

What is the point? It has all the faults of the original (see my review of Psycho (1960) for those faults) with some new ones added in like the characters and the casting being worse. The sound design and cinematography are an improvement but you’d expect that as it’s nearly forty years later. All the changes they made like what Norman does when he looks through the peep hole and the storm clouds intercut with the iconic murder are a huge detriment to the film. I appreciate the extra blood and that it’s in colour. The focus on Anne Heche’s character is actually really good just like the original even if it makes no sense for her to change her car. This film and the original get less engaging for the second half, pretty much from the cleaning up onwards. If you’ve not seen the original and don’t know the story then this may be watchable otherwise it’s totally pointless. I actually appreciate what they changed in the fruit cellar, that was legitimately better.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom, esse remake é muito ruim, eu não recomendo esse filme.

If I could give this movie 0 stars I would. The original, 10 out of 5 stars. Why would you they even bother to remake this movie? There was nothing added, literally same verbiage. Awful. The acting was terrible as well. Don't bother watching this movie. I wasted an hour and a half of my life for you.

Just completely unnecessary remake of Hitchcock classic. Shot for shot and the original screenplay seem dated If you're going to remake something then remake it. Make it your own. This was a poor carbon copy Interesting cast choices as well.
