Critics Consensus

Formulaic and often jarringly violent, 2 Guns rests its old-school appeal on the interplay between its charismatic, well-matched stars.

Movie rule 12: Mistrust anything bearing a '2' in its title - particularly when it's not a sequel. But 2 Guns proves a totally unexpected exception.

Washington and Wahlberg have a good time robbing banks and blowing up buildings and barreling through military security checkpoints and double-crossing people and shooting each other because none of it really means anything.

Don’t be fooled by the title: there are hundreds of guns and bazillions of spent rounds in this fast-moving action flick.

2 Guns is conventional, and the sense of humor is somewhat caustic, but ultimately the mild chuckles and fast-paced exploits of Beans and Stig provide a lazy diversion the viewer will instantly forget once the credits start to roll.

Denzel and Marky Mark work surprisingly well together, the laughs are plenty, and the action is decent. Always great to see Bill Paxton. Not a bad time! 8/10

Quirky kind of bromance action. Entertaining with the cast of star actors.

Preposterous, ludicrous and fun. Fast paced and action packed. Not much substance to this one.

Rated: 6.5/10 ⭐️ I expected a brainless popcorn flick, but the chaotic chemistry between the leads made it a wildly entertaining ride. What Worked: Wood’s handheld cinematography gives the shootouts a raw, tactile weight fitting the neo-Western vibe. Through my Methodist faith lens, seeing Bobby and Stig learn to trust each other after betrayal reminds me that true brotherhood means having someone’s back. Tronick’s editing also perfectly balances explosive action with Denzel and Mark’s snappy banter. The Cuts: The middle part really dragged for me; too many double-crosses stall the momentum. Keeping it spoiler-free, the cookie-cutter villains feel one-dimensional, leaving the stakes half-baked. Plus, the tone abruptly shifting between a dark crime thriller and a goofy buddy-comedy felt pretty inconsistent to me. Verdict: A fun buddy-cop ride fueled by its leads. Perfect for explosive laughs, but skip if you need a tight thriller. Line: “You’re my guy.”
