Critics who write off A Bug's Life focus on the surface-level plot about Flik's individual perseverance ... But under this palatable veneer is a story about workers' rights. Go to Full Review

Following on the multi-legged heels of Dreamworks' often dark and somber computer animation debut "Antz," "A Bug's Life" is Disney's colorful follow-up to its mega-blockbuster "Toy Story." Go to Full Review

Gabriella S @RT99554336 3h Very enjoyable movie, but ever since I was a little kid, the inaccuracies made it painful to watch. The only ants of significance in a colony are female. Males try desperately to mate and then die. Flick should be female. And Princess Atta would be her biological sister. There is no such thing as a male worker ant. The males are uncommon, short-lived, and winged. All workers and soldiers are female. I don’t see why the inventor protagonist couldn’t be a more realistic female ant. And why is it that the "good bugs" have four limbs and the "bad bugs" have six limbs? Of course there are exceptions, but that’s the general rule. No insect has four limbs, it’s upsetting to see. And making the "bad guy" grasshoppers have six limbs only serves to villainize true bugs. Also, the principle of grasshoppers demanding food of ants is simply unrealistic. If anything, ants are the ones who hunt grasshoppers. It could have been a different type of bug. These are my grievances as an entomologist. The animation is beautiful and the message is perfect: 🪨 = 🌳 But most importantly, here is the message that still works, that was taught to a whole generation 28 years ago: “You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up!” This could definitely be the turning point for the world today. See more Sam @SamColacito Feb 12 My Rotten Tomatoes score: 🍅 See more Read all reviews
