Dr. Widder’s thoughtful narration, the extraordinary filmography, and a keen directoral focus combine to tell a fascinating story of some oceanographic history and the ongoing questions of life that this story illuminates. A gorgeous and inspiring (I sat next to a usually squirming 7 year old girl who was mesmerized) film that speaks to all.

I just watched the screening of this beautiful work at San Francisco’s historic Roxie theatre. This documentary is fascinating in a sense that it is centered around ground breaking discoveries in marine biology shot in incredible and beautiful ways; yet, equally impressive is the story of human resilience to thrive against all the odds powered by sheer curiosity and passion. The director and her team have done an amazing job picturing the journey of a scientist as a human, and also highlight her amazing findings to share with a wider audience to raise awareness.
