While still a boy, Abraham Lincoln loses his mother to a vampire's bite. He vows revenge, but fails in the attempt, narrowly escaping with his life. He is rescued by Henry (Dominic Cooper), a charismatic vampire hunter who instructs Abe in the fine art of dispatching bloodsuckers. Abe (Benjamin Walker) continues his fight against the undead well into adulthood and his presidency, making a last stand against the ultimate vampire foe (Rufus Sewell) on the eve of the Civil War's defining battle.

Instead of laughing at this movie, we could have been laughing with it and enjoying the experience rather than despising it. But Bekmambetov forgoes the obvious absurdity of the subject matter.

Even though "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" butchers and condenses its pulpy and popular source novel, the movie is simply fun escapist entertainment and pops off of the screen like a 3D movie should.

After losing his mother to a vampire attack, Abraham Lincoln is trained by a vampire hunter to avenge her with his ax. This movie ridiculously follows many Abe tropes that makes it work more as a comedy.

Almost exactly what you’d expect minus a terrible stampede scene. Excessive smoke felt like FX cop out. Liked vampires being confederate.

Synopsis
