Paul H Jan 19 I enjoyed this, a bit indiana jones, a bit stargate sg-1 and aliens & predators in a grand battle what's not to love. Give this one a shot. See more Hughe J @Hughe Jan 18 Alien vs Predator was released in theatres in 2004 and is directed by Paul WS Anderson who also made the Resident Evil movies. It stars Lance Henriksen as Charles Bishop Weyland, as a nod to the Aliens movie I assume, and a bunch of other actors whose names I don't know. The basic plot is that a satellite picks up a heat image below Antartica so an expedition is sent to check it out. They find a Predator pyramid where they breed and hunt Xenomorphs or whatever and even have a frozen queen. The Predators kill off most of the nosy humans while some face huggers say hi to some more. Oddly instead of taking days to gestate, as per the lore, the aliens pop out of their human hosts in minutes and are almost immediately adults. We then get some alien vs predator fight scenes, science and archaeology mumbo jumbo, and then the pyramid blows up and the queen is killed. There's a lot of girl bossing, lore breaking, terrible acting and CGI, and a silly ending. Overall, typical Anderson movie. See more Lydia R @SweetRoxy Jan 13 Cons: The first half of the movie is pretty slow, and it feels like this film only gives a taste of the rivalry between the Alien and Predator species. But maybe that is the point since they did eventually make another Alien vs. Predator movie (that I have not seen yet), which hopefully goes deeper into their rivalry. Pros: I liked how creepy the alien pyramid was, and how no one was safe, and how the movie wasn't afraid to raise the stakes by killing off a lot of characters in gruesome ways. The aliens definitely stood out the most in this movie and had more presence than the predators, but I did think it was sweet that one of the predators bonded with the human girl, and they teamed up to defeat the aliens. La location, tra le più originali per i film del genere, permette di sbizzarrirsi con i combattimenti senza dover giustificare guerre mondiali, anche se probabilmente non viene sfruttata adeguatamente nella sua interezza, in quanto diventa un contorno per l'elimination game dei personaggi. Proprio le rapide e continue morti del cast non rendono giustizia ai personaggi minori, probabilmente i più interessanti, che vengono gestiti come carne da macello. I protagonisti sono invece piuttosto deboli, sia come recitazione che come caratteri. Interessante la sceneggiatura costruita intorno all'eterno duello tra queste due razze.
