Comedian Alvy Singer (Woody Allen) examines the rise and fall of his relationship with struggling nightclub singer Annie Hall (Diane Keaton). Speaking directly to the audience in front of a bare background, Singer reflects briefly on his childhood and his early adult years before settling in to tell the story of how he and Annie met, fell in love, and struggled with the obstacles of modern romance, mixing surreal fantasy sequences with small moments of emotional drama.

Allen is easily our most literate comic, and may just be our most comic littérateur, as readers of his humorous sketches know. But his new film is painful in three separate ways: as unfunny comedy, poor moviemaking, and embarrassing self-revelation.

Annie Hall is bracingly adventuresome and unexpectedly successful, with laughs as satisfying as those in any of Allen's other movies and a whole new staying power.

Annie Hall is not only Allen's newest film, it is also his best. It seems the most directly and obviously autobiographical.

Annie Hall is a classic and should be watched by a younger generation. The story is unique. The approach to describing relationships by Woody Allen is unique and the acting was wonderful. This is a lost art that all should be able to appreciate including seeing things like it again as we did.

As a fan of Woody Allen & Diane Keaton I was blown away seeing one of my favorite movies all time on the big screen. I couldn't help but think of the folks who saw this when it came out, how groundbreaking it was. It was a masterpiece and Im so grateful I got to see it this way
