Randal S @RT96217402 3 days ago I have enjoyed this movie since the first time I saw it. The script, performances and directing are all excellent. I’ve watched this film many times; I learned directing, screenwriting, and how to be more creative with storytelling structures from it. It is a true masterpiece of writing and filmmaking. It’s a shame that more films like this aren’t being made. See more Petros T @PetrosTserpelis Aug 18, 2026 It's a fantastically surreal film that fascinates both in conception and execution, yet at the same time the story often moves forward in a refreshingly simple way, i.e. the intrigue of the premise snowballs in awe-inspiring fashion but without needing to stun at every single turn as the visual splendour, high concept, batshit attitude and stellar cast (Cusack, Diaz, Keener, John Malkovich himself, Charlie Sheen's surprise appearance and the rest of the supporting actors) are more than enough. See more Kevin P @RT55971421 Jul 20, 2026 This movie is bizarre, uncomfortable, and truly mesmerizing with its unique originality and unhinged creativity. I love the insane premise of an office worker finding a secret door that leads to John Malkovich's head and he can control him for 15 minutes and then ejects into a highway dump. It's an oddly fascinating concept that delves deep into the psyche and autonomy of fantasizing being someone else vs bring unable to escape yourself even when you’re living the lives of others. The main characters are all hilarious and horrible selfish manipulative people. I love the funny surreal imagery. The movie is absurdly funny, bizarre, and surreal. I laughed hard when Charlie Sheen keeps assuring John Malkovich that Like most Kaufman films, the first act is very off-putting and comfortable, but quickly wins you over once the main premise is explored and ends up wowing you with its unexpected direction and surreal endings. It's a crazy movie with some truly unforgettable imagery. See more Tom F @RT55173143 Jul 11, 2026 Powerful weirdo entertainment, seemingly more radical in 2026 than in 1999. See more John F @RT84127024 Jun 2, 2026 Deserves a high score just for its ambition. Both hilarious and thought-provoking at the same time. See more Read all reviews
