It has all the ingredients to be a great film. But I found its underlying message deeply disappointing. In my view, this is an overtly feminist film in which nearly every significant male character is portrayed negatively: as a thief, assassin, traitor, or otherwise morally corrupt. At the same time, the female protagonist, despite developing an emotional attachment to a Nazi SS officer, is ultimately presented as a heroic figure, which I found difficult to accept. I also noticed several scenes that I interpreted as symbolic and strongly anti-Christian, with the final scene being the most striking example. Rather than serving the story, these elements felt deliberately ideological to me. It's unfortunate because the film had the potential to be excellent. I came away with the impression that the director was trying to promote a particular worldview beneath the surface of the story. That approach did not work for me, and I wasn't persuaded by it. The characters were two dimensional, the villains clichéd and the plot hung together not really. If you enjoy war thrillers directed as spaghetti westerns, then this film is for you. See more Mark N @RT46996149 04/06/2024 This film just happened to come on the TV when I didn't really have time or energy to watch, but after a few minutes, I couldn't leave it. I waited for a point in the film where I could make a conclusion, switch off and go to bed, but the moment never came. The plot keeps developing with new twists and turns. Totally captivating.
