Is Blade Runner 2049 a masterpiece like its predecessor? Definitely not. It's not even a match for 2016's superb Arrival, the previous film from director Denis Villeneuve. Yet on its own terms, it's a dazzling achievement.

This movie does a great job following up with the events of the first film. The visuals and cinematography is beautiful and stunning. The story is great and the performance are very well done. Definitely a great sequel that fans of the original will be pleased with. 9/10 Movie

It doesn't come close to matching the vitality of the orginal "Blade Runner," or better yet, " The Director's Cut." The "2049" sequel is too long, but mainly it's the pacing. The pacing is far too slow. I don't need to see a very lenghty shot of the back of Ryan Gosling's head, for example. There just doesn't seem to be enough story here for the film's lenglth. Maybe it could stand a "director's cut" version of its own. The movie finally picks up when Harrison Ford enters, but that's not until late in the film. At this point some footage from the original "Blade Runner" and the voice of Rachael are inserted. The effect was to remind me of how much better I liked the original. Sorry. I wish I could be more positive.
