You have to be mental to like this. See more Rick R @RT01654519 Sep 11, 2026 A very good movie, very entertaining!! Should also come with a warning about violence; very unsettling. See more Orin D @RT64117979 Sep 10, 2026 This flick is a very fine neo-noir western w/ oodles of graphic violence & very fine performances all round. The. pace is a bit slow @ times, gut on the whole it trots along pretty well. I thought that one gaff was that the woman held prisoner by the troglodytes was so neatly attired & not showing signs of having been brutalized & raped. Kurt Russell as the sheriff gives an outstanding performance as does the actor who plays the crippled husband seeking to free his wife. I wonder if there were actually cave dwelling savages like those depicted here? The barren terrain is a fine setting for this rather gothic horror/western. I will definitely return to watch this one again & highly recommend that you check it out. Orin P. Why did they do this to me? See more Philip B @thetachi693 Sep 2, 2026 This movie just seemed to be a little shallow as far as the historical aspects of it go. I wish they took a little bit more time to bring forward cultural and reference to the time period.. Four people saying this is one of the best westerns ever made. I’m not quite sure it’s there. It is, however, a movie with great peril action and a storyline that has you rooting for different characters. It does get gruesome for the average viewer and definitely not friendly for kids. But it’s cool to see a horror movie with a real possibility of actually happening. There were Apache Native Americans in the early 1800s that were quite savage and cannibalistic. I preferred the movie “the burrowers” over this one See more Read all reviews
