DanTheMan 2 Jan 12 Losing the pantomime antics of the first Carry On Christmas for a singular narrative, this special sees the Carry On team try their hand at Treasure Island of all things, because nothing screams Christmas quite like Pirates. Carry On Long John, as it were, is substantially weaker than its predecessor, slow, uneven and certainly plodding, taking a lot of its cues from Carry On Jack. Not by the fault of the cast, who do their best, but so many of these gags fail to land and are more or less recycled from previous material. It sadly felt like a chore at times.
