So while Curse of Aurore may not break routine or pack a wallop of surprise if you already frequent this subgenre of horror, it does offer a creative and spooky interpretation of one of Canada’s most publicized crimes. Go to Full Review

Whilst there are no big surprises in the way the story unfolds, it's a fairly polished example of this sort of storytelling. Go to Full Review

There are enough unique qualities to make the film worth a view, especially if you're a fan of found footage horror. Go to Full Review

What the movie really amounts to is a moderately engaging pseudo-documentary, bolstered by the lived-in chemistry of its three leads. Go to Full Review

Curse of Aurore is not bad, but it suffers from not enough scares and too much shaky cam. Go to Full Review

Aurore's specific backstory doesn't inform the present-day story in any meaningful way...and there isn't enough novelty to the horrific/supernatural ingredients to compensate. Go to Full Review

Saoirse M @RT16880320 02/22/2025 The movie isn't bad. The people that said nothing happened until the end were clearly just not paying attention--there were about a dozen little peekaboos, they're just not Jumpscares. There are some genuinely interesting effects, like the bit with the ghost silhouette in the candle. However...had the absolute least sympathetic protagonists I've ever seen. They're such genuinely horrible and stupid people that when they die at the end you're kind of like "Yeah. Fair enough". It does also sort of end unfinished. It's never explained who the villains are or why they're doing what they're doing (though if the reason is "because you're trying to profit off the tragic death of a child, stealing from every local you see, and being generally disrespectful and obnoxious" then.....yeah, that's fair enough, go off cultmembers) so it's unsatisfying and rushed. I wouldn't call this scary by any means, but it was definitely interesting. See more Courtney K @c0urtn3y 01/01/2023 i don't think it was that terrible, i actually like how it started for the most part. but it did eventually lose my attention for a while; it took a very long time for anything to even start happening. See more 08/15/2022 The movie is about 90 minutes long. Nothing semi decent happends until minute 65/70. And I am using "semi decent" in a VERY generous way. The script is just the most basic thing ever. Every single steriotype of ghost stories done terribly WRONG. I really do not like to give bad reviews but it was a waste of time, all of it. I know is "found footage" but the camera does not have to be so shaky, it takes you out of the story. One of the worst films I ever saw. See more 10/20/2021 Was very unnerving, the acting was really good and it didn't drag on too badly with the story building. Lots of little things you can miss if you're not paying attention (spoiler) when Lena is giving a tour of her house and they go into the "Pink Room" as they walk in, in the room on the right is a poltergeist of a little girl, it's very quick but it's there. Really enjoyed this one! See more 04/07/2021 Stop. Just save your time right now and go watch something else, believe me if you have any respect for your own time, then stay clear because this snooze-fest is NOT worth the time you'll end up committing to it. As an avid fan of horror movies (especially found footage films), this movie was an utter disappointment - probably because the other audience scores for this film were pretty (and in hindsight, suspiciously) high - at least at the time of writing this. So I went in optimistically and consistently found myself struggling to justify that optimism... I kept giving this movie the benefit of the doubt and hoping it would get scary soon yet even an entire hour in still NOTHING "scary" or even entertaining had happened. If you somehow manage to stay awake till the end, it's almost insulting how laughably unfulfilling the movie's finale is, mainly because it's the only somewhat exciting scene yet it lasted so briefly. Much like sex, the climax of this movie lasted a mere 10 seconds. What makes it so much worse is the fact that to get to that "climax" you have to sit through an hour and a half of nothing happening. To be honest, even spending the extra time writing this review has me asking myself "why waste even MORE of my time with this", but if it means I might help prevent some other potential poor soul from losing 90 minutes of their life, then it'll be worth it. Please be that person I save, go watch something else. See more 04/06/2021 I literally made an account on this website just so I can leave a review for this TRASH movie. I'll keep it short, but consider this to a warning to NOT watch this movie, trust me. The movie is extremely boring and makes no attempt to actually be scary. Every chance the movie gets to actually get interesting, it cuts out and goes to another scene where its daytime and all the momentum is lost. A horror movie doesn't necessarily need a jumpscare, but when a found-footage film literally has 0 jumpscares, you have to ask yourself "what the hell is this director thinking?". The acting wasn't that bad but the movie just never picks up. It felt like the whole time I was wondering, is this the scene where something finally happens. And everytime the answer was No. Nothing happens. Also, if you're wondering why this movie has some good reviews, check their accounts and see if they reviewed other movies... its not hard to get people to inflate movie rating with dishonest ratings. TLDR; save your time, i've watched cringe youtube top 10 videos that creeped me out more. The director should be ashamed of themselves. See more Read all reviews
