Critics Consensus

Darling's classic inspirations will be obvious to most hardcore horror fans, but they're deployed with enough wit and flair to stand on their own chilling merits.

Keating keeps his cards close, a common conceit of the films he's referencing: Repulsion, Rosemary's Baby, The Innocents, Persona, just to name a few. Does he succeed? You'd better believe it.

More likely to dull by repetitive creep than memorably rattle the senses.

The director's Polanski preoccupation borders on imitation. Still, Keating's flattery is sincere, and so is his wish to stylishly freak you silly.

The first act is boring as all hell but the second and third ramp up the action just a little bit, and the main actress Lauren Ashely Carter is a very good Kristen Stewart type.

The offensiveness of Keating's story might not have been so transparent if everything else didn't feel so half-baked.

Darling is a must-see for those who want a great performance, jarring scares, and a fresh art-house take on classic themes.

Very Hitchcockian. This should be rated MUCH HIGHER than it is. I definitely recommend it!

Wicked and twisted. I loved the visual style and the choice of black & white, a fairly unique choice for a movie of this kind. Great work from Carter, and was interesting to see Sean Young on screen again. Recommended.

"Darling" offers a killer performance from Lauren Ashley Carter but as fairly written and edited the film is, it's just as not. 5.8/10, C

I made a rotten tomatoes account just to comment on how bad this movie is.
