Walter W 2d They don’t make ‘em like they used to. That’s not necessarily a good thing. In the case of "Death Ship" (the precursor to "Ghost Ship") a former Nazi interrogation ship rams a cruise liner killing all on board bar a very select few. Basically anyone with a speaking line in the opening sequence will get to board the abandoned "Death Ship". Think "Poseidon Adventure" goes supernatural with possession, torture and much more gore. Watch out for: a bloody shower scene better than "Psycho", death by hanging and the fridge from hell just for starters. Somehow they attracted big name Hollywood stars like the late George Kennedy and Richard Crenna in 1980. It’s an atmospheric movie that despite its low budget has some very interesting original concepts thst have since been copied in other modern horror films. It has like 2 good moments and an ok cast just terrible direction and writing as with most horror creators it's the physical effects they go for more than the citizen cane writing. See more SwampSkin 03/27/2023 It was certainly a death ship, I don't know the full background of the production whether it's working with what it's got or just lazy, but I quite enjoyed it. It has its fair share of corny moments and usual horror movie protagonist dumbness in some parts but I found this just added overall to the certain charm it had. The two kids are awesome and own the screen. Its low budget and a big budget remake would be superb. The Nazi story is great and could be developed by a new screen writer and director and make the movie better. But I had funwith this movie on a Sat afternoon. a lot of fun and I dont get the hate. See more Christopher P 11/28/2022 This is an odd one. I think it falls in that weird time between the experimental/European inspired horror of the 70s and the slasher films of the 80s. Filmed like a TV movie, and if you cut out one sequence, it could have easily been one. I didn't dislike it, but feel it really didn't live up to its potential. See more Read all reviews
