Richard Kelly's debut feature Donnie Darko is a daring, original vision, packed with jarring ideas and intelligence and featuring a remarkable performance from Jake Gyllenhaal as the troubled title character.

The movie feels perfectly timed to coincide with our nation's latest flirtation with the apocalypse.

Jake Gyllenhaal, with an impish grin that exudes boyish charm, gives a breakout performance as Donnie Darko.

Donnie Darko foi uma experiência intrigante para mim. Jake Gyllenhaal foi o grande destaque, enquanto a atmosfera sombria e o ritmo me mantiveram envolvido. Fiquei confuso no final, mas gostei da reflexão sobre destino e escolhas. Terminei pensando: "Que filme foi esse? Que loucura."

Watch this movie if you want to feel stupid. It has decent acting but the writers failed to make the story coherent.
