Critics Consensus

Shamelessly derivative and only sporadically funny, Due Date doesn't live up to the possibilities suggested by its talented director and marvelously mismatched stars.

Oscar-nominated actor Robert Downey Jr. usually has a knack for picking good movies. But Due Date is not one of them.

Downey is not entirely comfortable playing straight man and a little of Galifianakis's antics goes a long way.

It's a tough double act, but the film pulls it off with great confidence and some major laughs.

A real labor of love, therefore, it's not a great film, but it is a more than decent comedy, with reasonable moments of inspiration and enough gags (both physical and verbal) to earn a passing grade. [Full review in Spanish]

It has the necessary conditions to achieve some absurd humor with the chemistry of Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis, but its predictable journey soon loses its comic effect when it detours down a series of easy shortcuts. [Full review in Spanish]

One of the best comedies out there! It is astonishing why it has low rating.

I don't really understand the hate on this film, it has a good cast, good jokes and reverts to the simple road trip movie in places which is comforting. While Ethan's character is quite obnoxious or stupid in a lot of scenes, which I understand would annoy some audience members, I still don't struggle to empathise with the character or his struggles at all. Super funny, must watch.

Robert Downey Jr really tried acting in this comedy. I think he is a funny character and the awkward combination between him and Zach really made the film good to watch. There are dark humor inside that I loved, especially where Jimmy Fox was involved, that was gold comedy writing. An OKAY film, I liked it.

Hilarious. Not sure what the critics hated, but RDJ and ZG are perfect idiots thrown together. If you liked Dumb and Dumber, you will probably like this. If you want a silly, goofy movie to take you away from the serious world we live in, this is it.
