Struggling circus owner Max Medici enlists a former star and his two children to care for Dumbo, a baby elephant born with oversized ears. When the family discovers that the animal can fly, it soon becomes the main attraction -- bringing in huge audiences and revitalizing the run-down circus. Expect to be impressed by the cinematography (Ben Davis), costumes (Colleen Atwood), production design (Rick Heinrichs), music (Danny Elfman) and the animation that created the adorable Dumbo with those large watery eyes that sparkle in the wild.

From a movie standpoint, it was well done and it gave me the feels it prolly wanted me to feel from the original. But for a remake, this was not that.

Not even CLOSE to the original movie. WHERES TIMOTHY THE MOUSE? THEY GOT RID OF HIM AND EXPECTED US NOT TO NOTICE!!! Just call it a different movie at this point disney. 😡 I expected better from you Tim Burton.

Good but not emotionally engaging. The film was visually spectacular, with fabulous sets and costumes. However, I was never fully convinced by Dumbo’s appearance or movement. The texture of his skin often looked artificial, and because he is the central character, that weakness mattered.

This live-action reimagining destroys all the poetic simplicity and heart of the original Disney classic. The director gets lost in his usual gothic visual style and overloads the narrative with a core of tedious human characters who completely steal the screen time and protagonism from the little elephant. Although the digital visual of the animal is initially endearing, the script is dragged out, cold, and devoid of any genuine magic, resulting in an empty, corporate, and incredibly boring production. But it might be good to watch at the end of the year when the circus is on TV.
