Leon H @RT13589101 Aug 27, 2026 The story of a family dealing with the fallout from an elderly father's stroke and subsequent decision to end his life via assisted dying. At no point did I ever get emotionally invested in this movie. That probably has more to say about me than the quality of the film. Excellent acting and a very well written screenplay that intelligently deals with the subject matter without being overly melodramatic. However it failed to really win me over thus the middling rating. See more Alain E @AlainE Jan 9, 2026 Very well done about a difficult subject. It avoids melodramatic exaggerations. The topic is the assisted suicide of an old man who asks his two adult daughters for assistance. Apparently it is based on reality, although one could think that the complicated personal relationships are the product of the writer’s imagination on overdrive. Charlotte Rampling has the small part of his estranged wife , while Hanna Schygulla, looking much different from her Fassbinder days, plays the benevolent death angel. See more Jozie R @RT08783257 Sep 26, 2024 I fell into this movie and loved and believed every moment of it. I wouldn't call it slow, but measured and thoughtful, completely appropriate for the material. I saw real emotions in all their complexity being portrayed by a crew of gifted actors. Kudos to the director, source material author, and all. See more Ben W @Username618 May 11, 2024 No option to delete. Put the stars in the middle. sorry. Today was a Wednesday, 22.05.2024ce. See more May 30, 2022 Everything Went Fine (2021) is a French film directed by François Ozon. The movie tells the story of André, an 85-year-old man who has a stroke and is half-paralysed in his hospital bed. His daughter Emmanuelle hurries to his bedside, and André asks her to help him end his life. Emmanuelle is torn, as she does not want to lose her father but also does not want him to suffer. The plot unfolds in a series of conversations between Emmanuelle and André, as well as flashbacks to André's life. The film is a moving exploration of the relationship between a father and daughter, and the difficult choices that must be made when faced with death. The acting by the two leads is excellent, and the film is beautifully shot. Everything Went Fine is a compassionate and honest film about the end of life, and the difficult choices that must be made. It is an intelligent and thought-provoking movie that will stay with you long after you have seen it. See more Read all reviews
