Critics Consensus

The Family Man's earnest attempt to remind audiences that it's a wonderful life too often steers into schmaltz, although Nicolas Cage and Téa Leoni's romantic rapport adds a dash of sincere sweetness.

A holiday film Joe Lieberman could love, unembarrassed by its wholesome, sugary pro-family message.

It's a film that's trying to get you to think about what brings value to your life. [...] I also like that it's about second chances - you can walk away from certain things but there's also a chance to get back to them.
