The body of a homeless woman is found in an abandoned farmhouse, and a diary documenting a journey of starvation and the loss of sanity lies next to the body. For nearly four months, Linda Bishop, a prisoner of her own mind, survived on apples and rain water during one of the coldest winters on record. As her story unfolds from different perspectives, we learn about our systemic failure to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

This is a first film, but you would hardly know it. Go to Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader May 4, 2017
Inventively structured, the documentary alternates between her early adulthood and her final months, her sad demise casting a shadow over the story and giving the film an air of classical tragedy. Go to Full Review Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle Apr 20, 2017

God Knows Where I Am probes with curiosity and concern, but it results in very little fresh insight that might allow us to feel that Linda Bishop didn't die in vain. Go to Full Review Josh Goller Spectrum Culture Jul 20, 2019

Above all, it's a very human story and a very well-told one -- which, in the end, makes it very hard to forget. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Shaun R @Shaun666 Dec 31, 2024 It's a tragic story but no different to thousands of similar cases up and down the country. The pretentious way in how this film is made does not improve the content. See more Neida V @Neida66 Nov 23, 2022 I lost someone who was also a prisoner of his mind devastating. See more Oct 31, 2019 Extremely sad, but good grief this movie dragged on forever. There just wasn't enough story to fill the amount of time it took to tell it. Probably more suitable for a 20-30 minute segment than a full movie. See more Feb 15, 2019 Loved this. Very engaging and eye opening. See more Dec 28, 2018 Half the film are silent shots of an empty house. Cut that out and you have a 45 minute short that might be engrossing. But everything e the story picks up speed we have to sit thru long panning shots of a deserted farmhouse.
