Daniel Radcliffe is very good in this movie, but the film starts to lose steam once you realize that it doesn't really have much else to offer beyond these high-energy action sequences.

Howden's film gives itself a good three minutes to play the amateur satirist before it abandons any pretense of cultural commentary and instead embraces every cliché it repeatedly insists it is undermining.

If you like your action flicks a little left of centre and bordering on the gruesome then Guns Akimbo is the film for you. The fresh creative nature of the film shows why Jason Lei Howden is a director who can potentially breathe creativity into the genre

Jason Lei Howden doesn’t hold back on the brutal, violent, bloody, extremely over-the-top action, and as long as the viewer is able to accept this purposefully unrealistic depiction of a real-life videogame death match, it’s a blast of pure entertainment.

Harry Potter in a violent comedy? You betcha! Yet another graphic-novel-turned-movie, this film feels like Harley Quinn meets The Running Man. The story of a nerd-turned-gladiator features lots of shaky close-ups and is violent, hectic, and just hilarious. So much blood and so much laughter at the same time...who knew that's even possible?

The genius of the movie is that it never apologizes for its own insanity. Every scene doubles down on the last one until the entire film becomes a glorious sprint through a carnival built by internet trolls with unlimited funding. It's loud, ridiculous, hyperviolent, and somehow weirdly charming. Beneath all the flying bullets, exploding cars, and delightfully unhinged mayhem lurks a sharp satire about online celebrity, anonymous cruelty, and our endless appetite for watching strangers self-destruct from the safety of a screen. The movie hides its observations beneath mountains of chaos, trusting you'll notice them while you're laughing.

For someone like Nix that's supposedly the best contestant in skism deathmatch, she sure is an absolute terrible shot. You can only go so far with the cat and mouse game until you realize the cat is a laughably lousy hunter.
