Critics Consensus

Hell Fest might give less demanding horror fans a few decent reasons to scream, but it's neither clever nor frightening enough to leave much of an impression.

It wasn't anything new, it was old riffs done in a way that was actually quite efficient.... The nastiest is the right level of nasty, the silliness is the right level of silly.

Plotkin's relentless button-pushing, coupled to the script's cringe-inducing yooftalk, instead mark Hell Fest as unmistakably the work of middle-aged execs trying to jab suggestible teenagers back into cinemas.

They did this 40 years ago, and better, in 'Halloween.' It's getting really, really tired.

I can’t recommend seeing Hell Fest in theaters, but it might be worth watching at home when it gets to Netflix. Even then, you will probably enjoy making fun of it with friends more than actually watching it for scares.

Hell Fest is not a well-rounded film, but it meets expectations by steeping the viewer in spooky imagery and squeezing some suspense out of its premise making it a worthwhile October watch.

The movie remains satisfying because it's not trying to approach the slasher genre from a place of irony or nostalgia, as many have in recent years.

Liked it a lot. The end was chilling to the bone.

In spite of its fun setting (I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd gladly visit this park!), the film never manages to conjure up an atmosphere of suspense, instead relying strictly on jump-scares to get the heart rate pumping. Add in some extremely cringe dialogue, and possibly one of the worst characters in movie history in Taylor, and you've got a recipe for a forgettable slump with zero rewatchability.

with any slasher it's all comes down to the killer and the gore. This film has a really awesome looking killer and lots of gore so it ticks both requirements for me. Story wise it's not doing anything new but the story is not what you come for when it comes to these kinds of films. All in all it's blood splattery goodness.

It felt like one of 90's horror movie which is filled with stupid decision making. Shooting was good but story was bad , on top of acting.

I JUST watched this movie, and it was great!! It wasn't what I was expecting like I was expecting they sign a waver and people are allowed to attack them and stuff.. legally. You know? But no I guess not lol. So but at the ending.. is he like obsessed over the main girl orrr?? And then he has a daughter!? Like.. well okay then. But over all the movie was extremely good!!!
