Critics Consensus

Sean Bean tries giving motive and emotion to The Hitcher, but director Dave Meyers is more interested in cheap shocks, and gratuitous gore and torture.

The recent assembly-line remaking of recognizable horror titles continues with The Hitcher, a dreary updating of the 1986 Rutger Hauer thriller.

It is all setup and superficial story with very little depth. Still, it was fun.

Só nos últimos 15 minutos é que percebi que já tinha assistido a esse filme antes. Provavelmente meu cérebro fez questão de esquecer o quão burros esses personagens são.

I'm not sure why this movie gets so much hate. It's one of the best remakes I've seen in this seemingly endless sea of stale remakes. It's risky, fast paced, fun, gritty and violent. Edge of your seat thrills and action. Sean Bean plays one hell of a bad guy. The movie's pacing is so well done too.
