In this Irving Berlin musical, Jim (Bing Crosby) and Lila are members of a performing trio who plan to quit and run a country hotel. When Lila says she has fallen in love with the dancer in the act, Ted (Fred Astaire), Jim leaves town with a broken heart. After turning the inn into a holidays-only live entertainment venue, Jim winds up booking -- and falling for -- Linda (Marjorie Reynolds). But when Ted shows up at the place after being dumped by Lila, he too sets his sights on beautiful Linda.

Although all the holiday's are covered, this is really a Christmas movie at heart. Overshadowed by its more famous (and overrated) remake, Holiday Inn deserves more credit than it gets.

A timeless classic for certain. Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby deliver their best acting performances of their careers. Bing Crosby comes off as this lovable guy that really just wants to live his life. Fred Astaire probably portrays the worst friend of all time in this movie but the foil between the two characters is so entertaining and you cannot help but be glued to each of the events unfolding before your eyes. Louise Beavers and Irving Bacon play the best roles of their generally forgotten careers. They are some of the funniest characters in the film. This is one of those movies that always puts a smile on your face. It is such a funny film with great music, an awesome plot, and spotless acting. Created White Christmas and Holiday Inn hotels. I love my complementary breakfast.

The cast and storyline are wonderful. It’s a movie that celebrates every holiday. It also was the introduction of Bing Crosby’s "White Christmas". Be aware that there is a blackface segment celebrating Lincoln’s birthday.

everyone has seen white xmas. but holiday inn is just not as popular or well known. altho I thinks its better than white xmas cuz of star, dancer, fred astaire. maybe cuz its b/w, that younger gen gets bored? almost same plot. so maybe white xmas, is a remake?
