The film is not likely to lure any converts. Go to Full Review Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Oct 21, 2016
Even though this is a (mostly) true story, the forced ironies of having infamous teen mass-murderers interact with the heroine feels more than a little exploitative. Go to Full Review Vadim Rizov AV Club Oct 21, 2016

Ultimately it's just another vehicle for a series of scenes in which devout characters remind each other that God has it all under control. Go to Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots Dec 20, 2018

This biopic is no doubt for the devout, but this isn't a completely unwatchable movie like so many others in the devotional genre. Go to Full Review Renee Schonfeld Common Sense Media Mar 14, 2017

I'm sure in reality Rachel Joy Scott was a nice person with good intentions and a fine heart. I just wish we could hear her story without an agenda attached to it. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Sheryl D @Sheryldean Sep 18, 2026 Must see! Amazing true story where most of the dialogue between the lead characters Rachel and Nathan were their actual words written to each other in a shared journal. Rachel’s faith and love will change you forever in a wonderful way brilliant acting by Masey McClain and Ben Davies See more Evan R @ndafed1776 Aug 10, 2026 You can tell all the "official" movie reviewers are liberal… See more Juris O @Juris100 Jul 20, 2026 A cheap teenage drama about how God is around us and always loves us. See more Shannon M @skmcobra Jul 14, 2026 Not the best acting but the story was one deserving to be told. See more Adam M @RT24049333 Jun 22, 2026 I'm not a movie critic or anything, but I connected with the main character "Rachel" I thought her character devolpement was good and it made me emotional. I think if it wasn't based on a real event the ratings would be higher, but overall I enjoyed this movie. I'm actually surprised the ratings are so low. Maybe it's because of political or "pandering" or religious things that I personally didn't care about as someone who just watches movies. Overall I recommend it if you just want something that makes you smile, and makes you shed a tear or 100. See more Jimmy D. @beave27 Feb 15, 2026 Extremely powerful and moving.
