Richard T @Manpuppy Mar 28 Dying laughing at all the audience reviews saying the characters are annoying, strange, self-absorbed, etc. That's. The. Point. The brunch (as it was planned anyway) is just a low impact social obligation where everyone normally gets to just front their superficial versions of themselves and pretend they like each other. But that social dynamic cracks and they realize that they actually ARE superficial and selfish and off-putting. They really shouldn't be the survivors of the apocalypse. The broader statement being, who should? If it were made now, there would be a social media influencer, a tech bro, a... umm.... clueless political zealot... You get the idea. See more 03/12/2022 I really wanted to like this, and I did enjoy some aspects of it, but the ending does really hurt it. Years ago, I found myself burned out on happy endings, and then I got my wish many times over. Today, I just need good writing, and this film raised questions that it was not prepared to answer...as if it just got distracted and forgot to follow up, and then slapped together a climax that was unsatisfying...and that can be funny sometimes, but in this case, it wasn't. I think it was a bit of a miss on the whole, but it was nice to see Julia Styles hasn't lost her touch. Would I recommend this? How bored are you? The humor works well and it's not an entirely implausible scenario despite the gullibility with which they accept their predicament.
