Wild child Mowgli (Haley Joel Osment) has grown fidgety with his life in a rural village. So he sneaks back to the jungle to be with his animal friends, like lovable bear Baloo (John Goodman). Mowgli's disappearance worries his family, so his stepsister, Shanti (Mae Whitman), journeys into the jungle to find him. But all is not well there. Critics Consensus

This inferior rehash of The Jungle Book should have gone straight to video.

Disney's sequel to the story of Mowgli and his jungle companions leaves out the name of Rudyard Kipling on the credits. No loss. It could well have left out the name of Disney.

Ok for kids, but not the most inspired sequel.

Is there any other reason Disney would throw in three reprises here of the original's hit song, 'Bare Necessities' if it were not to disguise this film's 'Unnecessary Indulgence'?

The catchiness of the original songs can't be matched with the jazzier and updated soundtrack, even as this follow-up recycles melodies from 1967.

Not a good movie, and probably better left unwatched. Which, for a DisneyToon sequel, is actually a pretty good place to land.

The characters giggle too much (as hyper-cute Saturday morning animated offerings will do), the music isn't as well integrated into the story, and the humans come across like an Indian version of The Cosby Show.

They took the first movie, which is a masterpiece, and remade it with a few new characters, and the whole thing turned into a massive piece of garbage. And guess where this movie went—yep, straight to DVD (even though they shoved it into theaters just to make more money). I won't even comment on the animation, which clearly downgraded. The story is a cheap, soulless copy, the new songs are forgettable, and the old characters lost all their charm. It's an insult to the original classic just to make easy money.

This should not have been released theatrically either. This should be a direct-to-DVD release

Gosh I just hated how second movies would ruin everything and gosh the jungle book 2. This was worse then how mulan 2 and Pocahontas 2 ruined their first movie by adding a sequel. But gosh the jungle book was by far such an amazing flim and then there goes the jungle book 2 ruining it. I'm glad this movie is the worst rated movie on Disney

One of the things I like to say that I saw Disney’s The Jungle Book, which was nice.

With the 1967 animated film jungle book a sequel to it would be rather bad if it was created by an entirely different team and new voice actors added, it was just so very not Bad but like very odd to say about it with a new story to it
