While visiting Verona, Italy, with her busy fiancé, a young woman named Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) visits a wall where the heartbroken leave notes to Shakespeare's tragic heroine, Juliet Capulet. Finding one such letter from 1957, Sophie decides to write to its now elderly author, Claire (Vanessa Redgrave). Inspired by Sophie's actions, Claire sets out to find her long-lost lover, accompanied by her disapproving grandson (Christopher Egan) and Sophie.

By the time a Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World" lookalike (Redgrave's real-life husband Franco Nero) and the background noise of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" show up (and come on, you knew it would), extreme Hollywood predictability sets in.

Beautiful scenery with a cozy and quiet atmosphere. I loved the storytelling although it is considered “cheesy.” That’s what made it so enjoyable to watch. Classic romcom recommendation!

obviously its not a groundbreaking movie, but it was not a waste of time to watch, i think it was ordinary in a heartwarming way, it was very relaxing and thats rare in movies nowadays there are many things i would tweak about it, but ....it wouldnt be the same movie anymore. if you have time to watch something heartwarming, calm, slow then give it a watch

There is zero chemistry between Sophie and Charlie. Charlie is painfully annoying and moody. I also don’t see how Sophie and Victor could get engaged when Victor is showing no interest at all in Sophie’s life and happiness. Bland and empty plot. The only good chemistry is only between Sophie and Claire.

This movie isn't only about the romance, it is about what you feel when you are in Italy, the sensations of taste new flavors mixed with romance. it is about what wake up in each person when she is in Italy. Because, it is imposible to make a romantic movie without being predictable, the romance that all the people want is predictable and it is no necessary to invent something new.
