Henry M @RT90792548 Jun 26, 2026 I keep going back to watch scenes from this movie, its a masterpiece. Terence Stamp is mesmerizing, you just have to watch it and see. The directing pulls you in but doesn't announce itself, sometimes unusual creative framing, some cuts back and forth in time. It has beautiful and sublime performances, exotic Cockney accent, just watch it and be blown away. I've been to LA and I know what the references are, this is maybe one of the most southern california LA movies ever made in history. See more Matthew D @OceanSage Apr 30, 2026 Terence Stamp is enthralling as this vengeful, mourning father and hardened criminal. Director Steven Soderbergh’s indie neo-noir crime drama The Limey (1999) is fascinating with Soderbergh’s careful direction, artful editing, and a killer lead performance from the late Terence Stamp. Soderbergh’s direction makes The Limey an engrossing and amusing slow burn. We get to see all these crooks have funny conversations as Stamp picks off all of these creeps one by one. Writer Lem Dobbs hilariously pits bad guys against one another, but develops a strong dramatic past for Stamp. It’s a very satisfying and cold-hearted film. The Limey reminded me of Point Blank, Get Carter, Hardcore, Bad Lieutenant, Kill Bill, and even The Friends of Eddie Coyle. Terence Stamp is tough and cool as the English robber Wilson, who comes to America to avenge his murdered daughter. See more F R @FR2021 Mar 20, 2026 Holds your interest, is enjoyable, and then it makes you think. Hard to beat that. RIP Terence Stamp. See more M B @Timbero Jan 1, 2026 Unconventional film making (inspired by Beat Takashi?) but also entertaining and watchable, mainly due to Terence Stamps performance and the rest of the cast. He acts very OTT, maybe for American audiences but that also makes it funnier in a way. See more Kevin L @Lakeman Nov 13, 2025 92% on RT? Why? This is middling Soderbergh, if that. Starts off well enough, w/ a basic revenge plot. I like Stamp a lot, but he's under serviced here by weak, formulaic writing. The dialogue is good in general, but other than the pacing and a competent use of tone, not much to recommend. Stamp is fine in the lead, w/ good work from Guzman and Warren. But Fonda and the supporting role players are fairly pedestrian. 2.8 stars See more David W @Sternhammer Sep 14, 2025 Neo noir done to perfection. Soderbergh directs this with expected aplom and Stamp provides a towering central performance. Stamp has done some world class films as well as some dross but when he was called upon by a proper director and script he could deliver with the absolute best. See more Read all reviews
