Just three weeks before her wedding, Lola (Greta Gerwig) finds herself suddenly without a partner when her longtime fiancé, Luke (Joel Kinnaman), dumps her. With her 30th birthday looming and being forced to re-enter the New York City dating scene, she feels adrift in a cold world. She leans on her friends (Zoe Lister-Jones, Hamish Linklater) for support but, after a series of romantic humiliations, professional blunders and boozy antics, Lola realizes that she alone is in charge of her fate.

Gerwig's dreamy style worked in Whit Stillman's Damsels in Distress, because the movie created an eco-system of oddity in which that style could thrive. But here it just grates.

Such a god damn irritating movie!!!! Just another New York film that thinks its so clever and so observant when its just modern and biased bullshit. The characters are annoying, the performances are way below decent, the writing is boring and familiar and the direction is terribly bland. When this movie wanted to be funny I wasn't amused... when this movie wanted to be taken seriously I rolled my eyes and when this movie wanted to be thought provoking I was thinking about how long I have to watch as many episodes of Gavin and Stacey as possible to wash out the bad taste that Lola Versus smashed on to my tongue within the first 10 minutes of the film.
