The tone in many ways reminded me of Top Gun, which would come out three decades later: Callow young pilots learn to rely on their fellow fighter jocks and act as a team. Go to Full Review

Russ G Jan 16 Passable post-Korean War propaganda film. made in color with high production values for the time, though a bit repetitious in its use of the stock footage. There's some Hollywood dramatization including some violations of military etiquette and discipline in the air. Pretty Boy Van Johnson reprises his Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo role; USS Oriskany, now an artificial reef off the coast of Florida, fills the role of the Fighting Lady. See more mark g @Mark_Alan_G. May 24 The Korean War is such a criminally mistreated conflict. So few books and movies that deal with it. Hoping this movie might do a good job of featuring it. However, the acting is so over the top, bordering on awful, which is hard to do with the likes of Johnson, Pidgeon, and Calhern, but they are trapped by bad direction and a poor script. Yes, good stock footage of war, but I could see that on the History Channel. See more Danny S 06/08/2024 Theres some great aerial shots of the F9Fs and wing camera footage as well. Terrible continuity shots using mix of F4U Corsairs( bridge/ ground attack)and a T-33 (ejection scene)and one other that looked like an F8F lol. The deck scenes and the pilot water rescue were fairly accurate. Decent story in part based on actual events( blind pilot/fiery crash). See more 09/20/2015 good WWII story made post WWII See more 03/07/2015 great movies no women in it at all just men fighting the commies See more 06/09/2014 Not much of a plot. Acting was ok. I guess movies about the Korean war are forgotten just like the war itself. See more Read all reviews
