Red dominates the palette, symbolizing love and desire, though its excess can feel exhausting. The sets feel artificial but add charm, while lighting brings nuance to the chaos. The story portrays a bohemian love where emotions drive existence, and the performances are functional, with Richard Roxburgh standing out. The climax brings together the film’s emotional peaks, though it doesn’t fully justify the preceding intensity.
