We're left with an expensively mounted movie, potentially a good one, that doesn't seem to know what to make of itself. Go to Full Review

This is one of those tales about one man against overwhelming odds and for a time it is fairly entertaining. Then, about two-thirds of the way through it starts to fall apart. Go to Full Review

Kevin P @Tirnog 09/29/2024 A cracking wartime movie that draws you in to the main character. Elegantly shot, the story reminds us of the effect war has on individuals, turning survival into revenge and the cost to humanity it can bring. See more philip w 09/03/2023 A ver good action film = a good story and great scenes See more Gezza 06/23/2023 Saw this movie in 71 when it came out at the cinema and I still remember it like yesterday when writing this review some 50 years later. Great script and story. One man against unbelievable odds - never say die attitude. Peter O'Toole gives a strong, engaging, gritty performance. If you can find it - see it. See more Matthew D 07/01/2021 Carefully removes everything that made the book interesting leaving it a glossy shell. See more delysid d 03/22/2021 this movie was really great See more 08/04/2019 This is a great Movie. It has a well written story and some very good acting. The revenge aspect of the plot, and the madness it forms in the main character, make for some awesome cinema. It might not be a hipsters cup of tea, but it is a good movie for action and war movie fans. The end is certainly one of the most memorable moments in movie history. Peter O'Toole delivers one of his most iconic roles ever, though it has been somewhat forgotten by the mainstream over the years. See more Read all reviews
