Critics Consensus

Museum (Museo) approaches familiar genre territory from a refreshing new perspective that's as exciting visually as it is narratively.

"Museo" is slightly frustrating on first watch, as its themes lie partly hidden behind Bernal's intentionally abrasive performance and the mix-and-match filmmaking of Ruizpalacios.

Moviegoers looking for the kind of zip found in an "Ocean's" movie may feel a bit lost at sea with "Museo" and its offbeat rhythms and quirky charms. But the rewards definitely will be greater, if you keep an open mind.

Even after the story runs out, it's still a joy to watch.

Museo is a highly watchable...heist film...However, its most unfortunate aspect is that it still decides to play it too safe, preferring to go for a narrative that is obvious, melodramatic and forgettable...

Ruizpalacios layers in critiques of Mexican society, colonial history and more in a complex yet very entertaining film.

Museo is a greatly appealing, bizarrely touching, fun and involving crime caper-come-character piece.

Muy lenta la película, una trama confusa que no sabe a dónde va, un poco monótona

Fascinating “replica” (i.e. fictionalized version) of the real, incredibly bizarre and audacious robbery of the Mexican Museum of Anthropology by two disaffected college dropouts. Fictionalizing the story allowed the director to speculate on the motivations of the two thieves and to establish a narrative theme of history being a less than perfectly reliable account of the past. Really well done.

Es un buen trabajo de intriga, suspenso y drama del cine mexicano.

From the director of "Gueros", comes another cute and quirky film, and therefore another pleasant watch. Alonso Ruizpalacios's style is intriguing and creative, and the fictionalized story feels more honest and sincere of the real one. Not to be missed.
