Critics Consensus

Pretty to look at but dramatically inert, My Oxford Year may have the right pedigree as a romantic dramedy but flunks out on the fundamentals.

There's no reason to bother with "My Oxford Year" unless you're a YA romance completist. Go to Full Review

What should be a tender, feminist-minded story centered on a young woman rediscovering her dormant childhood dreamer turns into a middling melodrama about being with a cute guy in desperate need of her rescue. Go to Full Review

They are all very attractive people, as are Dougray Scott and Catherine McCormack as Jamie’s parents. They just aren’t given a lot to do. Go to Full Review

Not only is this just sappy, bad writing... but it also sends the message that it’d be better for a disabled person to die than to live out the rest of their lives with a disability. Go to Full Review

My Oxford Year may be a work of accidental genius, but it’s a work of genius nonetheless. You will squirm, you will laugh derisively, you will cringe. By the end, though, you will be forced to admit that you secretly enjoyed every moment. Go to Full Review

Carolina A. @accqa 1d Boring, contrived, and painful to watch. Couldn't even finish it. See more vincent f @vincent804 Jan 15 something abstract and enjoyable. memorable shows an in depth understanding of the couple and how dilemmas set them apart See more Jane G @InMyLibrary Jan 13 What a disappointment. Corey was really great and most of the cast did what they could with what they were given. But Sofia? 💀 See more Luciana F @lucianahervey Jan 12 Shallow, forceful and predictable. Not worth it. See more Angel C @seraphine.th Jan 9 I was so excited to watch it during the first few minutes, thinking maybe in the plot of the story, she will be able to reach her dreams with an expected plot of romance but also I am expecting the story to focus more on her university life. It would be more entertaining if they gave us a whole sight on how the university looks like and dont just focus in one cute professor. Continuing on the flirting scenes, I stopped watching. There's no more fun to it, nothing to be excited about. See more Oksana P @Broxy Dec 26 Such a typical movie. I was struggling to finish this movie. The main girl is not suitable for the whole picture.,.. she looked and acted more like a beauty blogger… and the acting was so bad. Like really the movie was already not that great but she ruined it completely. See more Read all reviews
