Now, I am going to say about why it is so lovable. The appearance of Nanny McPhee might suggest something - I loved Emma Thompson as her. She has an ugly looking face & could not lose to Mr. Brown's 7 misbehaved children, who had driven out the previous old nannies. Perhaps, naughty minors do not deserve a young nice person to be their nanny. Maybe, it could be the ugly appearance could be whatever made the children gradually better mannered, with a gradual more plain & beautiful appearance, which people would love to hire & love. She saved children from a horrible soon to be stepmother, who they must never have had because of how decent they became. Since Nanny McPhee left since she was no longer needed, they get awarded with an actual good stepmother. But I never found the sequel interesting, so I shall give it a miss. See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 24, 2025 "Nanny McPhee" is a charming, whimsical film led by Emma Thompson, who fully embodies the magical yet stern character of Nanny McPhee. While the film leans heavily into corny, over-the-top moments, it’s clear that it was never meant to be taken seriously. Instead, it offers a playful, creative alternative to the traditional Disney-style nanny stories, blending humor, magic, and heart. Emma Thompson’s performance shines as she brings an unconventional, somewhat "ugly" nanny to life while maintaining warmth and authority, keeping viewers engaged. The child actors are well-cast, adding depth and credibility to the family dynamic and making the story enjoyable. Although the plot occasionally feels slightly uneven, it doesn’t detract from the fun and inventive spirit of the film. Overall, "Nanny McPhee" succeeds as a delightful, imaginative experience, offering audiences a lighthearted, magical adventure that’s entertaining for both children and adults alike.
