An aging James Bond (Sean Connery) makes an uncharacteristic mistake during a routine training mission, leading M (Edward Fox) to believe that the legendary British Intelligence spy is now past his prime. M indefinitely suspends Bond from active duty. However, when SPECTRE member Fatima Bush (Barbara Carrera) and her fellow terrorists successfully steal two nuclear missiles from the U.S. military, M must reinstate Bond, as he is the only agent who can beat SPECTRE at their own game of espionage.

[Connery] does at least handle the whole charade, a retread of Thunderball, with a pleasing sense of irony as he reacquaints himself with old adversary Blofeld (Von Sydow) and thwarts SPECTRE's plans.

Ok, this is the one that's NOT in the 'Bond Cannon'. Moore was doing Bond at the time. It's a good movie, along the lines of the ones Moore was putting out at the same time. Connery was great in his 5 original role movies but you DO have to take into context the 'Era' in which they were made. I just Binged all of them and they were decent- but none of them were Epic nor required excellent acting. I thought Lazenby's spin was promising and surprised he didn't make more. You're gonna keep this if you own them all and of course= I do.

Trata-se de um filme independente da franquia oficial, o que já se reflete na falta de identidade clássica do 007. A trama revisita elementos já cansativos, como a Spectre e a ameaça nuclear, sem trazer inovação ou tensão real. Tudo soa reciclado e emocionalmente vazio. A produção aparenta orçamento limitado. Faltam carros icônicos, tecnologia marcante e cenas de ação que acelerem o coração. A fotografia é funcional, mas sem personalidade, e os efeitos especiais são discretos a ponto de passarem despercebidos — algo estranho para um Bond lançado nos anos 80. Nota final:** **5

An aged and broadened Bond is back in both a crisp and driven way. Based on 'Thunderball' and came out at the same time as 'Octopussy', it was subject to scrutiny as not an official Eon production. Worth watching though.

No one can ever better Sean Connery as James Bond. Even at fifty-two he is Bond. Although this version is not as good as the original Thunderball and not considered a bonaified Bond flick it has a lot of the qualities that only 007 flicks can bring.
