Kroll awes and flounders in equal measure throughout the runtime of the one-hour special... It’s the second approach of Kroll’s special that proves to be a letdown considering it sits at odds with his own reputation.

Vulnerability that doesn’t feel manipulative is no mean feat. Kroll’s Netflix debut is another strong entry from him to the streaming service’s canon, and proves after a lively career of personas and characters, he’s just as willing to look within.

Of course nothing is perfect, but I almost gave this 5 stars. It is so honest and i had no idea re: his ability w impressions. I watch The League, bc I like fantasy football but I don’t enjoy a lot of the comedy, including Kroll’s character—but his vulnerability and self-depreciation was incredibly entertaining, relatable, and hilarious. This is my favorite Nick Kroll. Edited: I forgot the additive about “calling your Moms” at the end—countering his earlier “Mom” grievances. It is appears to be heartfelt.

It was funny, period. I liked the stories, they felt authentic and well told. I was more bothered by hearing the many characters from Big Mouth in his voice than anything I didn't find hilarious.

A welcomed departure from his last few specials, Nick Kroll's Little Big Boy borrows from his past character work to blend it in with a more standard standup affair. The result is a largely hilarious and introspective on life, love, and shitting your pants. It's well worth an hour.
