Betty H May 10, 2024 I went with two friends. The three of us thought the acting was suburb ... exceptional. James and Daniel could not have done better. They were father and son living the best way they could. If you miss this movie, you will be the worst for it. Very impactful for so many families. what would you do ... what could you do ... this may help you with decisions you must make. All aspects of this film is exceptional. See more Peter C May 5, 2024 Outstanding acting. Not an action flic, but an excellent character study and a superb cast. See more David H May 5, 2024 Beautifully handled situation. The only reservation I had is that the father John's situation is unusual: (1) He knows he's dying (movie doesn't name disease ), but is well enough to continue working and to be with son Michael for quite a while. (2) The local town's social workers give him the option of choosing which of the available sets of parents will get to adopt. (I saw the open-caption version, but had no trouble understanding the Northern Ireland English.) See more Judith K @ziqiongmom 1 day ago This was an unusual film nowadays: it's a character film that successfully gets its viewers to sympathize with its main characters, who are a father and his young son. The acting is fantastic. I found it a moving film that brought tears to my eyes. Despite that, it is ultimately a hopeful film. See more Lisa H @RT46370191 Jul 4, 2026 People need to read the synopsis of the film to know what they will be getting into. Ignore the rubbish reviews and be prepared to get your heart broken because it is very sad, and it is based/inspired on real life events much like the boy in the blue striped pyjama’s. Another film that had me crying throughout. I am glad didn’t watch either at the cinema. As all the positive reviews have said so very well acted by Daniel and James. The birthday candle that didn’t go on the cake, so subtle in the story telling. Maybe i think too deeply about stuff, but the baseball caps in the film cover also has meaning if you think about the bond between the father and son. The film is sad not depressing. It represents what families go through that we never hear about. If you can appreciate that, watch it. If you can’t then don’t. It is that simple. Can i bring myself to watch it again, probably not for another 5 years much like the other film i referenced above. But i liked it. Words can’t even… A deserved watch. See more Read all reviews
