MB C @MB.Cinema 5 days ago After losing his son, his marriage, and his job, a grieving man finds an unexpected connection with his 17-year-old niece when she comes to stay with him for the summer. Quiet and atmospheric, On Summer Sand handles grief through restrained performances, natural sounds, and the heat and rain of Nagasaki. Joe Odagiri and Akari Takahashi give the film its emotional core, even as the slow pace and emotional distance sometimes make the story feel less powerful than it could be. A subtle, melancholic drama about loss, connection, and finding the strength to move forward.
